I am a nerd. I get obsessed with characters and stoires (tv, books, comics). My favorites The Hound (Game of Thrones), John Locke (Lost) and Leon and Mathilda (Leon the Professional)
I don't like those words, they always have a negative tone. I don't associate any of them when I think of what/who I am. Being smart and/or liking certain things doesn't make you the stereotypical nerd or what have you.
...According to that venn diagram I'd fall into the "nerd" category.
But hey, there's nothing wrong with being a nerd. And a little diagram doesn't account for the various things that make up such stereotypes anyway.
Going by this definition, I'm a geek. I've got all the right interests. But I'm also super friendly and fairly charismatic, so I don't tend to get that particular label applied to me. *shrug*
Looking at that, I'm a geek. I pretty much only read sci-fi, I go to science fiction conventions, I watch science fiction shows... And on top of that I swooned when we were learning about the ETC (electron transport chain, makes ATP for cells in the mitochondria) in Biology.
