I have become strangely infatuated with the iPad. I’ve managed to talk myself out of buying one, for various reason: I should be spending my money more responsibly, lack of flash support, lack of expandable memory, I don’t want to become Apple’s bitch link .

However, I am now curious as to how many people own an ipad/other tablet or plan to purchase one of the current or upcoming tablets.

I don't have a tablet. I don't even have a laptop. I have a Kobo, though. It's a book reader. It's the closest thing I have to a tablet.

I don't have one. They look fun, but there are so many other things higher up on my wishlist. My poor laptop is falling apart to the point that I have to plug it into a keyboard and monitor.

I got an ipad last july. I absolutely love it. the touch screen is so intuitive, and they are great for so much. it can do everything except flash. I hate you flash, you stupid memory munching battery hog! There is a little bit of a learning curve when it comes to typing on an ipad though, but I love it. The ipad auto corrects my typos, and automatically capitalizes the first word of each sentence for me too. and jailbreaking makes it so worth every penny.

i have played with an ipad and its not for me i would take the money and buy a laptop or net book .............and dell has a new mini tablet its $ 100 with contract looks like a small tablet/big phone lol

I have an ipad, own a convertible tablet/net book and my cell is touch screen. I don't think I could live without a touch screen. Seriously, I am spoiled in the way of electronics. It will be amazing when sex toys have A.I.

My dad kept trying to get me an Ipad, but I really didn't want it. I just got a 13 inch mac book air instead, and I am very happy with it.

I have a sharper image e-reader I got for $50 it is a double edged sword I am reading more because of it but it so crappy it makes me lust after an ipad at the same time.

The lack of Flash is really a killer for me, there is a good chance I would have gotten an ipad at the height of my gadget lust if it weren't for that. Flash may be a crappy piece of software I'm not going to argue against that but with out it there are just to many things I can't do to justify the purchase of ipad.

Example: I'm taking an online class the lectures are on flash as are practice games which I use to study. This realization cemented the ipad as a toy with too little practical value in my mind

The boyfriend owns an Apple iPad, and he likes it. I personally hate the stupid thing. I still haven't figured out what the point is. It doesn't have enough processing power to function as a laptop (Especially when you consider the fact that Adobe refuses to work with Apple, so all Flash-based items are out on iPads. Sorry. No YouTube or anything like that.) while it's too big to really be "portable" like my smart phone. So it's basically sitting uselessly in the middle. Unless you possibly would do art-related things on it or something, I just don't see the point.

Well youtube really isn't a problem as there is an app for it, apple even advertises youtube as one it features link the real problem is every other tube site, which don't have apps ex Edentube (and here is where another thing I don't like about the ipad comes into play thanks to Mr. Job's no porn policy and it's closed ecosystem there never can be). Youtube has the cash to trans-code H.264 most other sites don't.

And even among the site which have the money to transcode i.e hulu. There comes another problem. Licensing, for example hulu licensing allows it to play vids for free on the internet but to play video on mobile device carries more licensing which leads to a free service on my laptop becoming a monthly paid app.

I'm not too interested in technological things, I think they are a waste of money and a way of making money off parents with teenagers who want cool things to show off to their friends.

If there was a definite useful purpose to the iPad that would be applicable to me. I might consider it. But honestly, who doesn't have a computer at work or at home. You don't need to have interent with you at every momment of the day...

I personally don't own an iPad or any other type of tablet. The only thing I'd consider bying, though, would be an eBook thing, like the kindly - and even then? It's iffy.

What I'd like to know, though, is what is the attraction of it? Is it simply that it's a new, shiny, toy? Erm, you know, the non insertable kind.

I own a cheap drawing tablet that I got off woot.com one fine day. I'd like an ipad sometime in the future perhaps, but for now I like using my computer and my ipod touch. The ipads are just too expensive and not that useful at the moment.

We bought an IPad2 when they came out for my other half, he rarely lets loose of it so I don't mess with it too much. We tried to get one of the HP ones before they sold out after the announcement they were pulling them to no avail. I want one to use as an e-reader, the Kindles, Nooks and such are just a little "too small" for me. I think I'll be settling on a Nook Color though in the nearish future...we can't afford a second IPad, and I'm no fan of Apple anyway (I have an Ipod Touch and have never figured out how to get music on it...I play Solitaire on it and use the calculator occasionally...).
