Do you make your own sushi at home?

Contributor: Sinfully Sinfully
I was just wondering how many of you make your own sushi at home? Also, any suggestions on where to buy some tuna suitable to consume raw. Most grocerry store fish isn't fresh enough to consume raw. Do you know of any stores that possibly have frozen salmon or tuna that would be ok to use for sushi? I live in Arizona and there really isn't any fresh fish around here

I make my own, and prefer it. I really can't say where to get your fish, because I live in Maryland and we have really fresh fish here, but I would imagine that you could go online and find local places that sell just seafood like raw fish and stuff?

I can make the basic ones and used it. Cappa maki, California roll, etc. But, these days, we just go out for sushi. There are some good restaurants here and they do a much better job with a greater variety than I can make.

We've made it a couple of times. We called around to see if any of the grocery stores carry sushi grade fish. Only a couple of them do, (even here in Kansas you can get it!) so you may want to call around to see where you can get it. It's important to buy sushi grade fish because it is held to a higher standard during inspection. Regular fish can have worms and things that can make you sick if you don't cook it first. It's a lot of fun to make though, and not too expensive either.

I prefer to buy my sushi already done for me. Preferably fresh-made like at a Japanese restaurant. The pre-packaged sushi is rather disconcerting.

I do have everything needed to make it at home but I never really use it.

No, I can't cook in general, I don't want to know the catastrophic events that would occur if I attempted sushi.

I don't eat sushi at all but if I did, I wouldn't make it at home. But I'm not much of a cook.

I would love to, but I haven't tried. I adore sushi! I wouldn't know where to get sushi grade fish.
