Do you "look like someone who curses"?

I guess I look really innocent or something, because people are always really shocked when they first hear me curse. I'm generally polite and quiet upon first meeting people, then relax more when I get a feel for how well they tolerate harsher language. But even people who curse a lot more than me will give me a really surprised look when they first hear me utter one, usually saying something like, "You don't look like someone who curses!"

It's pretty hilarious, actually.

So how about you? Do you think you look like someone who'd swear a lot, whether you actually do or not? I have no clue what to look for, so it's pretty funny to me that some people have an idea of what someone who curses looks like.

People tend to take me for more innocent than I am when they meet me, too. It's not just in matters of cursing but that's included.

People do tend to think I curse and smoke even though I loathe smoking and do not curse all that much. I usually say: Sugar, Sugar honey Iced tea and fudge.

Heehee, my mom used to say, "Sugar!" a lot (including one instance of, "Sugar me timbers!"), though she normally just cusses. Sometimes I say, "Hate crimes and budget cuts!" in lieu of actual swear words. This seems to generate less surprise from my peers, though I suppose that's to be expected given my wacky personality.

I don't think anyone has to have a particular "look" to curse. Looks have nothing to do with our language and speaking abilities.

I swear like a sailor and it surprises almost no one.

Indeed! It's just so funny when people have expectations about stuff like this based on looks. I never much got it, either.

I'm definitely in your boat. I look very young / innocent, so if I ever curse, it's apparently the most hilarious thing ever.

I look like a sweet little are-you-even-18-yet?-y ear-old so nobody expects anything bad to come out of my mouth.

I'm not sure what a person who curses looks like! Lol. I have no clue about this one. I do say the regular cuss words and I probably do it daily, but I limit it and don't get too vulgar with my language.

I look very young for my age and innocent. Most people are shocked to know what I am into sexually, but I do not swear much at all. It is not very becoming to my personality and I think master finds it unappealing.

I don't think there is anything that screams "innocent" about me, but I've always been told that I present myself as well-educated and when I use certain words around certain people, I think they cringe because they feel I should "know better".

I look innocent! Most people would assume that I don't swear at all, as I'm quite quiet. So it sure takes a lot to make me swear, and when/if I do, peoples mouths usually drop!

I would say no, I do not look like it....until you piss me off lol. But I sure do have a dirty mouth. I try to watch myself in different settings because I don't want people getting the wrong impression of me. Cursing in some settings just looks trashy. I'm not cussing every 5 minuets but when I get mad I just seem to let it roll. I read a few places how cursing can help some people when they hurt themselves, like you burn yourself with a flat iron, it helps aid in relieving pain. I feel it helps me control myself in some situations and I can express myself better. of course I know when to NOT use that language and when I do have a child I won't be going around cussing at them. Cursing just gives people such a bad reputation easily I think.
