Since learning about the health benefits of liver (from healthy, pastured animals of course) I have been looking for ways to incorporate it into my diet. I didn't grow up eating liver at ALL, and I don't like gaminess, so there was no way I was going to eat it pan fried with onions, or anything like that. Finally I decided to grind it up and add it to meatloaf with beef and pork. It was actually good! The ratio was approx. 1/3 lb. liver to 1.5 lbs. muscle meat. I'm going to try it next time in meat balls. So..the question is, do you like liver? and did you know it was good for you?
Do you like liver?

I've never had it before. I always thought it was unhealthy for some reason. Maybe now I'll actually try some!

I have it once in a while

I used to love it, haven't had it in years though.

I love liver, especially calf, pig and chicken liver, but I don't eat it too often.

The only thing I like liver for is Cat fishing. My mom drilled in all the health benefits when I was younger and we had it at least one a week. Maybe it was just the way she made it but I can not stand the taste or texture.

I don't actually like liver itself but I could easily survive off of liverwurst...which isn't really all that good for you.
06/05/2012
I knew it was good for you, still hate it.
06/05/2012
I know it's good for you, but I've never ate it. I don't think I will.

I knew it has iron and other nutrients. It also has a boat load of cholesterol and fat. I don't eat plain liver, My Man hates it. It's one of the only foods he won't eat.
I like liver sausage, especially the kind made with no nitrates. I also like goose liver pate. It's not easy to get. But, it's legal again in Chicago, not that we can afford it now.

I knew the health benefits but I detest the texture, taste and don't like organ meats.
06/05/2012
I know it's healthy, but it's gross.
06/05/2012
I didn't know at all. But I will be skipping it
06/05/2012
liver is nasty... i'd rather take a supplement instead
06/05/2012
Prepared properly I love it.

Frying it in a pan with a little olive oil with onions, then put it in the oven for about an hour= awesome!!
I love fried chicken livers too.
Grew up on them but don't eat them as much now as we used to.

But....cholesterol and animal fats are nutrients! The fat helps the vitamin A in the liver get absorbed. Things in nature tend to be synergistic like that.

On a side note I'm really happy to see so many people who like to eat liver, even on its own (which I won't attempt just yet, though my husband is begging me to cook it like that. lol) I know there are some other tricks besides combining it with muscle meat-such as soaking it in lemon juice, or drowning it in ketchup. I will probably try the former next time I make a ground liver dish-I didn't plan that this time and it still turned out well.

I think liver is okay -- it tastes like congealed blood to me. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I'll eat it if it's there.

I voted that I hate it, but truth is, I've never had it before!
06/06/2012
I hate the taste of it, even the smell when it is cooking turns me off from eating it.
