I've had mine all my life - even without a nap during pre-school, I still didn't sleep much at night. My sleep averages maybe 5 hours a night when I do sleep. It takes me forever to get to sleep, too. Oh, and I'm also one of those people who can't get back to sleep if I'm woken up at any time of night.

Sleeping pills make me feel like crap in the morning. The semi-best things I've tried is melatonin (make sure you're relaxed and ready to be asleep within a half hour of taking it), 5HTP, and Gaba. At least it doesn't make me feel awful in the morning like sleeping pills do.

For me it comes and goes. On a good night I might sleep 5-6 hours. But some nights I might only get an hour or two. Usually I get tired when I can't sleep then. I have tried sleeping pills, I generally avoid all medicine unless it is really really needed.

It varies. Of course it does not help that I am a night person with a morning person's hours either....

I have times where I cannot go to sleep, the longer I lay there--the worse it gets. Or I wake up and that is the end of it--time to get up, no matter the time. Then there are the days I cannot sleep at all--those are the worst, I am such a zombie but cannot sleep....Glad that does not happen very often. I have found that if I get around 5 hours of sleep I am soooo much more normal and alert than if I get 6+ hours. Wonder why that is......

Tons of people are effected by Insomnia. Some are very mild, and only have a hard time staying asleep, but not falling asleep, and then their are some people, like yourself that are seriously effected by it.

As for myself, I am somewhere in between. It takes me at least an hour, if I'm lucky, to fall asleep. I rarely sleep more then five hours a day, and some nights, like last night. I don't even feel tired until seven AM, and then I end up sleeping all day, but I always wake up at least every two hours. If i want to get up early for work, school, what have you. i have to take extra strength or higher sleeping pills. It sucks, I hate it. and I hope it goes away some day.

I have that problem to! i think it's because I'm getting to much sleep. Or my body just isn't use to sleeping that long any more.

I've had sleeping problems for most of my life. Even as a kid my parents would give me sleep aids some nights because I just couldn't sleep. It's really frustrating.

Once in awhile, I have problems sleeping. I can imagine having insomnia. I feel for you.

I know someone who said they had it, but that was years ago. Other then that, I have not heard of any of my friends or family having insomnia.

I've had issues sleeping since I was about 11. I usually just stay up until I'm exhausted. Making the room overly hot or heating my body up in some other way (a heating pad or a hot bath) also help. I like listening to jazz at night too as it soothes me. When all else fails I resort to a sleeping pill.

No I don't have it, but I think it would be one of the worst things to suffer from

I used to have it really badly. It was mostly from my medications. I would stay up for like a week at a time. I was tired as hell, but could not fall asleep, even with medication. When I would fall asleep, it would be for about 2 hours and then I was awake again. So glad I don't have to deal with that anymore; I have enough problems as it is.

I have it occasionally. Usually meditation or a glass of water helps

I have it here and there and I take pills for it as well. Right now I will only take my pills if I really really can't get to sleep. I hate the feeling of being drowsy still in the mornings and I have to be up early for my son to get him off to school on top of that I have to get up in the middle of the night for my 2 yr old.

My sleep is just all over the place. Sometimes I'm up half the night, sometimes I fall asleep right away but I can never sleep for more than 4 or 5 hours usually.

I have it, and it sucks. I normally get around 3-4 hours of sleep a night, with occasional days when I crash hard and get around 12 to make up for it.
