We have them. I don't have a problem with them, they probably deter a lot of speeders.
Do you have Red Light Cameras at intersections?
06/23/2012
I don't have any in my town, but there are some in the larger cities I pass through from time to time.

It has had the opposite reaction in my city.. I definitely see less accidents at those intersections.

I have them where we live, and now there starting to put them up on lights on the main highway here. I have never gotten a ticket from them but I do think it's a total invasion of privacy!

We have a few cameras here, it's a small town. I am sure I have slipped by one or two. No tickets yet. I have heard on the news that some tickets have been thrown out and some of the cameras removed. It has been a while since I heard this and can't remember all the details.

There's one in my area. I never run red lights anyways, and I'd definitely never do it at that intersection since I know the camera is there.
06/23/2012
Yes and it has a habbit of ticketing people during a yellow.

Thanks for sharing such an length insight into these important issues. I also think that when the government considers flying "drones" in our neighborhoods, that is also dangerous and one step away from our "right to privacy"!

Actually, this is a good question. This was something I was having a discussion about recently--privacy. I do think it's a violation of people's privacy to be able to see inside their vehicles. Your car is like your home. You should be able to be comfortable in their without having these kinds of worries. Don't get me wrong, I'm serious when it comes to safe driving. I'm 22 and drive like an over-cautious granny. I get that from my dad though and it makes me a more aware driver so I'm fine with it.
I totally understand that speeding is dangerous, driving too slow is dangerous, drinking or TEXTING (dumb!) is dangerous and yes, these things should be looked out for. However, it's going too far when cameras can see in your car. I don't want photos or myself in my car or my children. This upsets me a lot because I tend to get... really comfortable in the car. I hike my legs up with my dresses on. I don't care. Nobody can see in there. Of course, I fix myself when we're at a redlight, but a car should be private not public. We have a lot of fun with our weekly mini road trips and now, I can't even enjoy it. It's not like we have sex while driving, but I love my travel vibes and enjoying them while he drives. Now, we have to lookout for stupid cameras.
My opinion is if cameras are a must, they should NOT be able to see inside your car. I feel the same about that airport crap. Good thing I don't ever plan on flying! I don't want my privacy invaded and violated any more than it already has been in my life. less

There are some cameras here and there...but not a ton.
06/25/2012
Not right in my city, but in the surrounding cities so just about.
06/25/2012
My town has them and the tickets are $200 minimum here! There are a bunch of people here that did some petition to take most of them down, due to how expensive the tickets are over here. I actually don't have a problem with them, since a lot of people drive like raging lunatics in these parts.
06/25/2012
yess and they are everywhere now!
06/25/2012
I've heard about them, but I've never gotten a ticket in spite of speeding all the time lol. I think they're just a myth.
06/25/2012
I know where alot of them are, and I have seen alot of accidents happen because people were more worried about getting a speeding ticket then they were about driving.
06/25/2012
We have them in my city. I really dont care if we have them or not.

That is a high price for tickets issued by Red Light Cameras. Here in Seattle, it is $105 minimum!

I haven't ever needed to go to one :p
06/27/2012
Yes. They just make people zoom through them faster trying to escape. I hate them.
06/27/2012
I live in Socal so I'm sure we have some somewhere
06/27/2012
We have them in my city, but I don't drive so they don't bother me at all. Actually I'm in favor of them. I'm so sick of people thinking the law doesn't apply to them.
06/27/2012
My town is too small to have any of those installed, but they sound like a good idea.
07/21/2012
I find them not that effective, but I don't have a real problem with them
07/23/2012
We don't have them in my town, but there are some a few towns over.
08/29/2012
I live in a very rural area and we don't even have intersections. 4 way stops is all we need.

Where I am, I don't think so.

I am seeing these more and more around the city. Not really in the downtown area, but in a lot of the larger intersection that people can reach higher speeds around.
