My husband has moderate OCD. I am OCD about my food... nothing can touch! Unless its butter on stuff or things that are supposed to be together lol
02/05/2013
Sometimes I have moments of it, but mostly no.

Nail biting has recently been classified as OCD, especially the severe form of nail biting that I do. I'm having to treat it as an addiction to be able to grow my nails at all (constant vigilance, etc). Not fun.

I have some OCD-like ticks but I'm willing to bet that nothing I do would be diagnosed as such.
02/05/2013
Minimal OCD for me.
02/05/2013
I meant to put minimal, but I put moderate -_- oops.
02/05/2013
Not the "I have to have everything clean and straight" type that everyone thinks of when you hear OCD, but the kind where I obsess over a phobia and have anxiety attacks all the time.
02/05/2013
It's really annoying sometimes because I can't touch some stuff. If there is a really fuzzy blanket in the room, the odds are that I can't touch it or I freak out. I don't have it with all things, just some things.

(Right before typing, I had to move my mouse around a few time and straighten the mouse pad.)
I'm ok SOMETIMES.
OTHERS, like when I'm extremely stressed, I'll focus so much on certain things, I cry.
Stress and OCD DO NOT MIX.
Well, they mix very well in fact, but they create a terrible time

No, I do not.
02/05/2013
Nope

I have moderate OCD, and it drives my husband crazy!
02/05/2013
No one can stand my OCD and it's always over the weirdest things.

A bit of minimal OCD, but I've learned a lot of mechanism to focus it. My girlfriend has moderate OCD.

No, but I have a few compulsive behaviors.

yes

I have mild OCD. It can make my day more difficult but I have found meditation to be quite useful.

Alright, so these type of polls are terrible. as OCD is a mental disorder and is usually cultivated by people who do not have compulsions or exhibit obsessive behavior but are anal retentive. Living with OCD is very hard and for many, very limiting and debilitating for those with sever OCD. Also compulsions and obsessive behavior can thrive as separate entities that are manifested into a psychological disorder, it isnt until the two come together do you have someone who has an obsessive compulsive disorder - which is much more than "i dont like when my food touches" or "i have to keep my room clean" (that is anal retentive behavior not OCD). There is so much more that that disorder, and to co-op it when you do not live/have such a disorder is ableist and makes it that much harder for people who do have OCD (or a truly obsessive or composure personality type) to be seen as more than just quirky people that have to be very neat and tidy. its a serious disorder that is often very hard to live with that should not be co-opted by those who do not actually have the disorder and think "oh I'm so OCD because [insert quirky behavior here]."
*this is not directed at anyone in general, including the OP, im just voicing my distaste for these type of questioners because those who may not actually bei n the OCD spectrum are able to co-op the disorder for themselves without actually having the disorder. i notice many of you who answered did say you struggle with OCD in your daily lives and/or take a medication to help you with your disorder, please know this is not directed toward any of you.

I understand, and put a disclaimer stating that this was not a post indicated at you or the people who posted in this, although my tone was rather rude and policing and i apologies for that. i was upset to see how many people had to qualify "not in a joking way" when talking about their mental disorder and how often there are polls similar to this in the mental helth forum where people who do not have the disorder yet co-op it for themselves. i understand like many disorders OCD is on a spectrum and there are those who have a minimal condition and those who are at the severe end. i was speaking only about those who co-op the disorder for themselves because of a "quirky" behavior they exhibit which is just anal retentiveness vs actually obsessive or compulsive behavior or OCD.

I'm sorry for my original message, because it is important for those who do struggle with the disorder to come together and have a place to talk about it, so polls like these are important for that aspect. i was just upset about the fact that anyone had to justify that they had the disorder and not in a "joking" way. it was not my intent to see as if i were personally attacking anyone, and i should have put more thought into the way i worded myself and put forth my original message before submitting it.
