I'm not really bothered by neighbors doing yard work with noisy tools, since those noises won't last all day. The thing that annoyed me the most was when a new family moved in a few houses down and their 3 young kids likes to scream while they play in their backyard, usually they'll spent half the day doing that!
Do you have annoying neighbours?

I wish we lived in the same neighborhood - at least then there would be one other reasonable person around. My city just passed a new law to crack on nuisance rental properties - if the police are called there three times for valid complaints within a certain period of time they shut down the property. Sadly, this won't do anything to stop the hooker next door.

We have neighbors who still haven't figured out that when they let their dogs out, they will ALWAYS bark non-stop. This is especially fun between 5-6 am.
We have another neighbor across the alley who, in her many years on this planet, had not figured out how to park her car without blocking the ENTIRE alley (it's a Prius, how hard is that?!?). She also seems to have honed her skills in doing yard work at the oddest times of the day and night. There have been many times she has been out trimming the shrubs, flashlight in hand, at 9 or 10 at night.

LMAO Oh man, this thread just keeps getting funnier. I swear, some of these descriptions of terrible neighbors are better than most of the stuff on TV! You guys should write a book!!

The people who live directly next to or across the street from me are nice folks. My dogs LOVE to play with one of the dogs next door. The woman is absolutely delightful, and we see her fairly often.
There are some people down the street that are a total pain though. One woman called my mom and told her that my brother's truck was "an eye sore" and our blue house "doesn't fit with the neighborhood." The homeowner's association sent us a letter a few weeks later informing us that we HAD to repaint our house. It was a long drawn out process. We finally had a new color approved by them, but I honestly can't tell the difference between the old blue and the new blue. It was a waste of money. The woman who complained to my mom couldn't even see our house from her house!

Lol! Bless your heart. That sounds like a hell of a lot of annoying noises! I would be aggravated too. Especially with the migraine I have right now. I don't have a clue what a good way to stop them would be. Thankfully, our neighbors are the most precious people ever.
We live on a mountain in a very small town and pretty much everyone here is kind. I always hear people say that this area has the nicest people. Anyways, we have a few neighbors. They're not exactly super close, but there's a good bit of trees and woods between us. We can still see their house from the back yard though. It's like a small sub division beside our house, but the people are all quiet and kind except one mad who's threatened to kill all of the animals on our road This road is full of animal lovers, including me. My closest neighbors are very quiet. No problems out of them except their dog comes into my yard and barks hysterically when he sees me. Lol He doesn't do it to anyone but me! It's like he thinks I'm on his property.
Then my fav neighbors are in their 60's and from Oklahoma and lived in TX for a while. They love cats just like me and dogs too. They actually buy toys and presents for my cats & write "From Harry" Harry was their dog who died! LOL They are so kind. I gave them my poodle because she had a terrible surgery and was really lonely. She paid me 100 dollars! I couldn't take it, but she insisted so that was part of my school payment.
We love being with that couple. We always have a great time. I'm glad to have them, but I really am not happy with the man threatening our animals. They don't even go in his yard! He's an asshole.

That's awful! My Man and I decided before we even bought our house we would not live in an area that had a neighborhood association that could make rules about what color your mail box was, how far your pulled your shades down, what was parked in your driveway or anything that interrupted normal living.

We live in an unincorporated area, which although we have the freedom to have bonfires and do whatever we want to our property, within reason, it has gotten bad as people moved out (we were supposed to be bought out by a developer who was going to put in a mall, but when the economy failed, he lost his money and our house lost 50% of it's value, (thanks Bush) and one man bought up a lot of the homes and uses them as short term rental property. These renters, unlike lease renters do not care about the neighborhood, don't care about the people and are just awful. Loud, rude, trashy (the kind of people who think unusable washing machines belong on the front porch) and dirty. Sadly, because we are not part of the village properly, only the County Sheriff responds to calls and we get comments from them like, "It might take a while. You're so far from the station." Aren't they supposed to be riding around? We are 10 miles from the Sheriff's office, but once we thought our house was broken into, I was pregnant, we had two small children and it took the police 40 minutes to arrive.
As nice as it is to have a large lot, if we had it to do again (which we don't because of the drop in property values) we'd live farther somewhere else, but not in a community with a neighborhood association. People should be free to do what they like with their houses, as long as it doesn't hurt others.

I have a neighbor down the street with an older model Jeep Cherokee (been in a crash) covered with a tarp in his driveway, somebody spray-painted "eye sore" on the cover. I think the same person spray-painted "free" on another neighbor's bbq grill (he leaves it outside his front door), next day the grill was gone! Overall, my neighborhood is a peaceful one even with these silly incidents.

I live in a 12 apt building in a complex, every wall and my ceiling is surrounded by neighbours, most of them annoying. The ones that annoy me the most are the ones who smoke weed on their patio in the middle of the day when my kid is trying to play.
05/31/2011
Just one annoying upstairs neighbor. Stomping around at all hours of the night and vacuuming for hours straight every morning.
05/31/2011
On one side we have an awesome neighbor. She's really nice. On the other side we have older, annoying neighbors. They let their dogs out at all our of the night and they are little yip yip dogs, always barking. It's a retired couple and the wife's "quiete voice is almost yelling. Our bedroom window is fairly close to their side door in which they use to let out the dogs and sort. And heaven forbid if you talk to her she wont stop rambling. I will usually say hi and scurry away.
05/31/2011
We have lovely neighbors. Next door, are NEVER home..ever. But they are nice, and on the other side of us is a guy who is retired, and has no family that lives around here. Therefore, on holidays he makes all us younger folk cookies, and buys the kids' presents. He is super cool. Down the street there are people who omeschool their kids..I don't know when because they are constantly yelling, fighting, doing stupid stuff like running through and playing in EVERYONE'S yards and flower beds. They are out at all hours of the night. They aren't teenagers either. Their most recent mischief was spraying everyones cars and houses with waterguns..that had food colored water in them. I know a few of the neighbors called the cops on them, but even now..it's 11:20PM and they are still outside running up and down the street!
The plus side...This weekend and last weekend that had a HUGE moving sale
Other than that, I think we might be annoying. hehe. My kids are monsters! However they are monsters inside their own home.

The neighbors are pretty cool for the most part, except for the one across the street that has deemed herself "mayor" of the neighborhood... or at least acts like she is.

My neighbor to the left is a little creepy beacuse he just stares over here sometimes...and he always mows the ditch area in front of my house which is strange because it is out of the way for him...
The neighbors across the street are more than likely drug dealers because like 10 random cars drive in every day and beep and they come out and meet them... not to mention their damn dogs rip into my trash if I leave it out for more than a few hours... and the mom yells at the kids when they are outside...
The neighbors to my right are a really cute old couple who are super quiet and super sweet... they always wave if they see me leave...

However, her kids are allowed to ride dirt bikes across everyone else's lawn, (they are LOUD and smelly) yell and scream, (they are not small children, they are boys in their teens and early 20s) and play their base booster turned up to Eleven at all hours of the day and night. AND, they run the engines of their trucks all the time. With gas at well over 4 and a half bucks a gallon in this area for most of the last few months, I don't understand people who RUN engines. Of course, her little angels are doing nothing wrong, even though she has called the police on other neighbors for doing the exact thing she and her kids do.
My kids know how to respect neighbors, they don't make noise, they don't play their car stereos loudly, they are respectful of others.
I don't understand people who don't think the rules and expectations of society apply to them.

I must say that I feel extremely sorry for you!!!
For most of my life I lived in blockhouses (two, actually), where you pretty much don't know your neighbors and don't communicate with them at all too... (Just greet them cause it's part of the common sense manners when you bump into them...)
My grandparents have a weekend house and one neighbor rarely came to hers, the other neighboring place didn't have any buildings on it, and after that the house was still being built for years and years, so nobody came over to do anything with it, it happened occasionally in the summer that that family came and hung out there, working a wee bit sometimes...
So life was sweet until someone bought the area next to us, and they built a house in such an annoying way that the wall was a foot or two from the fence, and it blocked the entire view I enjoyed for all the years when I was chilling out there, enjoying the greenness and trees and the river, aka I was having a relaxed, fun time feeling nature only, and no people at all...
When it changed I never went there, to the back of the house to the river anymore, because I lost my private atmosphere totally, people staring into my face, not feeling the comfort of being by myself only anymore...
I don't hate people, I love them, but I don't like it when they are around "uninvited"...
People often say I look unfriendly and rough because of my black clothes, and that I never initiate any conversations and look for anyone's company, just enjoy myself alone, and when they happen to talk to me they often say they are surprised as hell, how cute and adorable and entertaining I am, and that I am totally the opposite than I look like...
So I do think that the fact that one loves and needs total privacy around his/her home doesn't mean that (s)he hates people, it is just a natural attitude...
I once lived in a tiny village with my first love too, neighbors weren't a problem though they were close in that street...
Now W/we live between two towns with my Master, the nearest neighbors are acres away, and W/we are happiest with the set up, W/we love it that W/we can go out anytime and enjoy O/our hot tub naked, not having to "dress up for the occasion" because of the neighbors, that I can run out naked after I get up and squeeze Him when He is working outside... W/we could listen to music as loud as W/we wished, W/we can be fucking O/our B/brains out like wild rabbits outside, nobody would see or hear anything, W/we feel like W/we have the whole world for O/ourselves, and W/we do think that such a privacy is something essential for a harmonic, happy life...
Actually, W/we are going to move this year or next to live in an even more remote area, where the nearest neighbor would be min. 15-20 miles away (I wouldn't mind 50 miles either how my Master used to live, though He had to deal with everything by Himself, living and working all alone in the desert), so W/we could continue the same peaceful way of life, and not disturb anyone with O/our projects hammering and drilling and building as well, having animals, building a greenhouse dome etc...
I just feel sorry for everybody who has to put up with noise and annoying neighborhood (unless (s)he likes it, cause some people do need the closeness of others), and it isn't so easy to just pack your things and move elsewhere, but I do think if you can afford to make a living from home then you should go and find a place where no one is nearby, and you can start to build up your environment however you please...
W/we live in a very exquisite remodeled RV though, so it's easy for the two of U/us to move, but if you prefer freedom, privacy and your very own private sphere then it is a good idea to give it a thought in invest into it, at least the rent is never so expensive if you find a nice private spot with electricity (you can have solar power though) and sewering, water, and you aren't bound to mortgage and rent and landlords... ^^

We have an older couple who lives accross the street...they aren't really annoying or anything. Just slightly creepy because the lady is ALWAYS looking through her kitchen window at our house. It's weird. I feel like she's watching us. She's litterally always there. There sink is below that window.
I'm always thinking *HOW MANY DISHES DO YOU NEED TO WASH??* There is only the two of you living there!
Haha thats the only weirdness though I guess.

I have a very annoying neighbor, who loves to blast his sound system. I used to think he throws parties all the time, then I realized it's just his regular listening volume. I'm thinking he's had some hearing loss after all these months. And frankly, I'm fed up of talking to him about it, so I called management instead.
I have active sound reinforcement monitors and I never turn them above 1/4 of max volume. I can barely hear it outside my door if I press my ears against it. Most of the time, I use professional monitoring headphones anyways. Now if I can be respectful, why can't my neighbor?
After so many months of enduring through this noise pollution, next time he blasts through his speakers I will call the cops.

I just sit out to the terrace with my notebook to EF, then one of the neighbours has just came out to hammer some wood (??), the other has a guest who is revving his motorcycle instead of ringin the neighbour's doorbell, the other one is cutting the hedge. The other one has geothermical heating that goes even in the summer because then it acts as cooling. This machine hums non stop and can be heard at night. They also have little children and a baby who cries in their garden every now and then... Other neighbour is selling the place but has gardeners every now and then who like to cut the grass early in the morning when I sleep, and blowing the tree leaves with an awful loud machine. Oh and they all have dogs. I like big dogs with deep bark, but the little ones yowling at everything are very disturbing.
I just cranked up the volume on my notebook to the max it's quite loud and supresses their sounds a lil bit. Other times when I was laying my laminate floor and had to cut some of them in half I intentionally did it at night with the circular saw. Now that's annoying haha! It's like a war zone here! less
