Do you go to spas? Get your nails done? Professional waxing?

Contributor: M121212 M121212
Hey y'all,

I'm just getting into the world of visiting spas and getting my nails done. I was a pedicure virgin until a couple weeks ago when I went in for one... and it feels so good!

Just wondering how many of the ladies and gents out there are into going into these professional spaces to have beauty enhancement or relaxation work done on them.

I sometimes get my nails done (into claws), but since I moved here, I can never find a nail technician who does a good job (I always end up having to fix them when I get home), and doesn't listen to what I have to say.

I used to go on a regular basis, but I'm not making as much money as I used to, so I've cut back on unnecessary spending and haven't gone in a few months.

Oooh claws? That sounds fun!

Tee hee sadistic manicures, that sounds excellent!

i get my nails done every few yrs. it's not something i get to do often. i got my eyebrows waxed recently after the women nagged me to do it. i've always been happy w/ my eyebrows & was afraid that they would wax them down to thin little nothings. luckily, they just cleaned them up a little, & i was quite happy w/ it. they wanted to wax my upper lip, but i said no, & the woman gave me this look like i was crazy. i was QUITE offended.

I had my nails done once for a dance competition. I think I'd consider getting professional waxing done, maybe a very light spray tan. I've found that doing anything past rinsing my face with a little soap will aggravate my skin into looking all acne-y, so I don't think I'll try a facial anytime soon...

I've never been. I hold the belief that men should not feel such comforts. I'm being series this time! I didn't even know my city had such a spa until my girl found it while looking at my city on the internet. She found it in five minutes, while I've lived here all of my life...

You need and "I have been to a professional esthetician or spa, but didn't really care for it" answer. My female friends have in the past dragged me along to get manicures and such, but frankly I didn't like it and do not ever plan on going again.

I go to get a massage every now and then, but have never had a manicure or pedicure.

I have never been to a spa, had a professional massage, had my eyebrows or other things professionally waxed or had a pedicure.

I have had my nails professionally manicured, but I always felt really uncomfortable while she was filing, buffing and painting away. I don't know if it was due to the language barrier, the overwhelming and sickening smell of the chemicals or seeing other women in a vulnerable state that made me feel that way. I just know I haven't had the desire to go back.

I would love, love, loooove to have my hair professionally colored and styled and then get a classy make-over at the Clinique or MAC counter.

I work at a spa, so yes I physically go to the spa all the time

I get a facial about once a month, but I am able to trade for a free facial. If I had to pay I imagine I'd get 1 or 2 a year. My esthetician friend taught me how to wax so I don't need to go for waxing unless I need a brazillian. I get massages whenever I can but usually don't get those at a spa. I have never gotten a manicure or pedicure. I keep telling myself I need to try it, but I never do.

Every now and then, I'll splurge on a massage at a day spa.

+1 for me. I've been in the past (in high school for prom) and didn't too much care for it. I wouldn't mind doing a spa treatment with all the massages and works but just leave the manicures and pedicures out.

Same here. I've been, but was not really impressed. I went with girlfriends for a mani/pedi before a wedding, and I do a better job myself at home! So I feel like it's kind of a waste. If I really enjoyed it, or thought they did a better job than I could - I'd go more often. Professional massages are great, but I don't care for the other stuff.

I don't do anything on a regular basis. My sister and I go to get pedicures whenever she's in town, and the last time I got my nails done with acrylics was for my wedding. I've had professional massages when I snagged things like "4 treatments for the price of 3" kinda deals.

I've gone to a spa once, but only for a massage. I've never had my nails done. Although we're planning on trying out everything in a few months. I may even try a waxing (squeee!)

I don't, I even feel guilty spending money on a hair cut. I think about people who are starving or who don't have their basic needs met, and I just can't bring myself to spend money on anything beyond basic needs for myself.

I wish I could afford to go more often. But perhaps the fact that I can only go on special occasions makes it feels more luxurious.
