I don't usually go there, but I will send my husband to look for work jeans or pants. He is in construction, and very hard on his pants with all that, so it doesn't really pay to spend on brand new stuff.
Do you ever shop at thrift stores? If so, why?

I have gone to the salvation army and it was cause my mom likes going there to look at knick knacks. I did find some great children's book and I bought some for a relative. But I didnt come across any clothing I like.

I'm not real big on thrift shops. I like antique stores better.

The Salvation Army has provided help and assistance to millions of the needy for 100+ years. You don't have to agree with everything thing they do.
What happened to tolerance for other points of view? less

I try to purchase items made in the USA when and where I can. I've paid much more for clothing made here, but yes I do also own foreign made clothes too.

I do not wish them ill, however, I do not want to not reward them either.

I rarely do, but have in the past for a joke gift or a used formal gown to wear once.

goodwill because all of the above!

I love bargain hunting! The local ASPCA runs our thrift shops, so I get great clothes and help feed kittens at the same time.

I like the cheap prices and the vintage styles. I am very fond of men's patterned shirts and those seem to be in short supply lately. At a thrift store I can get a unique look for much less than it would cost if I shopped at a high end store.

I used to work at them, and I've always shopped at them. There are some places that are pretty grimy (which I avoid), and some places that are really diverse and neat. Finding clothes in my taste and size (at the same time) is hit-or-miss, but it's fun. I also get the best home decor there, and the most outlandish furniture (my ex-husband hated my kitschy Mexican lamp).

I like Savers a discount/thrift type of store. But I prefer to go with a friend who is more savvy about clothes especially since I hate wardrobe shopping. Just went this past weekend and purchased many skirts, blouses, sweaters, capris supplementing my wardrobe signifficantly and all for $70. There is no way in the world I could come out of a regular retail store with what I purchased the other day.
I also like donating clothes I no longer wear to Savers, clothes that no longer fit because they are to large fro me now.

I have always shopped at thrift stores. I'm a third generation thrifter.

I rarely do.

Not into thrift stores...I can't get over the smell of the inside of stores.
05/29/2013
I don't shop at thrift stores (since most of the stuff there is worn stuff from the 80s), but I do buy from places like Ross and Marshalls.
05/29/2013
My wife and I both love shopping at thrift stores. We've bought clothes, books, household stuff... It's fun! They often have cool things you won't find anywhere else, it's for a good cause and we love bargains. Only yard sales and flea markets are more fun for that.

I mainly shop at thrift stores because money is tight and I like to be able to get a whole outfit for 20 dollars instead of getting like what one shirt from J.C Pennys? RRRIIIPPPP OFFFFF

its pretty dumb not to check them out every now and then, in my opinion

They can have some random awesome things you didn't expect.
05/30/2013
I go there every so often. But I mostly get old books from there

Even though I don;t thrift shop as often as I use too, I still head off to the thrift store when I need something that will work until I can afford a better one. Often times I go though, i go in looking for one thing, and come home with a giant bag of stuff for under forty bucks.

I love thift store shopping! Especially when I am feeling crafty or like searching for something. I am a total sucker for a good deal!

I love thrift stores, I've found some really cute things there over the years.

If an organization helped fight against your right to be married to your wife, you may question your allegience to them, too. Why give power to something that wants to hurt me? There are so many other just as good, if not better, non-profits that both help people and manage to do that without being anti-me. less

I feel fortunate to have a little chain called EcoThrift in my area. They color-code their price tags, and each color has a different discount on different days. If an item is too much one day, you can check back and see if it's on sale! I've found a number of great things there--most recently, some "grown-up woman"-type tops for when I need to appear to be mature and professional.

I do for the bargains and the occasional oddity that you can only find in a thrift store
06/01/2013
I shop at thrift stores because it is fun and who knows what you may find. I also like to find items and transform them into other stuff.

Great place to find boks cheap

Being on a budget we have to make the money last. My daughter just bought a 2-piece swimsuit for 3.00 and it would have cost 35.00 if it were new. It was in great condition I washed it several times because it was used making sure that she was safe from it.

I like the bargains you can get at the thrift store, especially on new-with-tags or almost-new items. For example, yesterday the local store had a massive sale and I got:
2 pairs of pajamas
2 pajama tops
3 pajama bottoms
6 t-shirts
2 pairs of jeans
All for $17 (plus tax)
Stretching money to go further is a great feeling!
