Since it was about 30 degrees and snowing last weekend, we were totally unprepared for it to jump to almost 90 this weekend, so we don't have our air conditioners set up or anything. Last summer, I lived in a cabin type thing where I worked, which had no aircon (or windows compatible for it if I bought my own), and that was a huge bummer. Right now, it's too hot for me to sleep, as it often was last summer, and I'm wondering how many others have this same problem (so that at least I only feel a little bit bad about it).
Do you ever get too hot to sleep?

To hot in the summer, to cold in the winter. Luckily a good air conditioner and some more covers fix the problem.

If it doesn't rain through the night, it gets quite hot in our bed to the point we just throw off the blankets and shiver through the night instead of being miserable and hot. We could always warm up in other ways anyways XD.

I get too hot to sleep if I don't keep it very cool in the room. I cannot sleep if it's too warm. It makes me feel horrible!

Growing up in Texas I was often too hot to sleep, mostly at summer camp or my grandparents'. My grandfather turned the ac off at night, but I was a good girl so I had to sleep in a decent nightgown and use the sheet no matter how hot it was.
Now, my husband is quite the space heater in the bed, and in the spring I can't sleep in the bed with him because it's so hot! Summertime we have the ac down nice and low so the heat isn't bothering me then.

Yes. I've spent humid summer nights in houses. I can fall asleep eventually, it just takes a long time.
If a plug in fan is available, I take it.
if not. Life flat, as spread out as possible.
But even when it's winter, I don't want to be to warm.

Yep. Always a problem this time of year.

Yes! And I can't really sleep with the fan on higher than low or I wake up all stuffy. I'm about to start messing with the thermostat and just get bitched at for it. I'll be in a thin t-shirt and undies and still hot! I can't sleep if it's too hot or too cold.

I am a literal furnace--so definitely many times it gets too hot for me to sleep!!! I then end up in a cool bath and try to get as many zzz's until I wake up boiling as I can.

I overheat really easily. I think it's part of having Fibro. I also have sleeping problems because of my Fibro too... sigh.
05/21/2013
I overheat easy, I hate the heat. I can sleep if it's damn frozen inside the house as long as I have blankets, but you can't strip down past naked to cool off hahaha! I really do hate the heat, I get dizzy and lethargic, sucks all the life out of me.
05/21/2013
By the time I'm ready for bed, my room is comfortably cool, even on the warmest nights.
05/21/2013
Whenever the power goes out here from a storm, it almost always ends up to too hot. I toss and turn and eventually just give up on sleeping.
05/21/2013
I am beyond a "warm blooded person"...I often sleep with windows open, even in the winter.
05/21/2013
Yes...last night was hot and humid...didn't have the AC set up yet. Going to be worse tonight and tomorrow.

Sometimes. Usually I can handle it though.
05/21/2013
The warmer weather especially with the humidity is always more uncomfortable to sleep. I'm glad in our house now we have ceiling fans and when it gets too hot and sticky a floor fan will be in our bedroom too. Air conditioners are great but I get enough of them at work and often get too cold, even chilled to the bone.
05/21/2013
Sometimes, but our house has central air, so it's not usually a problem.
This time of year is a little annoying, because in the winter, we keep the house heated to about 70°, while in the summer, we cool it to about 80°. That 10° swing in temperature does take a little getting used to, but it's a first-world problem for sure!

I will sometimes, it takes me a lot longer to fall asleep but know I must go because I have to get up in the morning. I do have a ceiling fan in my room though and will use that at night.

I love keeping the air nice and chilly and just piling on blanket after blanket. I sleep so much better when the air is ice cold, and the heat only ever causes problems.

The worst part is that I can't sleep without something over me, so even if I'm sweating to death and sprawled out naked, I need to have a sheet over my middle or sleep isn't going to happen then either.

I guess I don't have anything I can add because between you & butts you have covered the way I am! Thank God I have central A/C & now a big cold front is coming though! It's going to go from 90 to 60, yay! I need something on me, or I can't sleep, either! I LOVE having ice cold air on my head & blankets on the rest of me, perfection if there is an added breeze!

@ butts, I often say the same thing about not being able to get more naked! I can always get warmer, but not cooler, especially if I can't be naked in an icebath!
05/21/2013
Yes, I sometimes do. My boyfriend and I keep the room very cold though, so it doesn't happen very often.
05/21/2013
I sleep in the same room as my sister and she won't open windows or use a fan so yeah it's hard to sleep sometimes

Yes, I can't go to sleep when it's hot, I rather it be cold then hot myself.
05/21/2013
only if I get really sick or its really hot outside and my AC has not been able to keep the house cold.
05/21/2013
Yes! I rather be cold than hot.
