Me and my best friend were recently discussing the amount of reviewers that is on here and I've seen this too.She was saying that in the time she has been here she feels like an outcast for not being a reviewer.I agree with this. The amount of reviewers I've seen on here had she not introduced me to the site I would have thought it was just for reviewers.
Do you ever feel like an outcast because you are not a reviewer?

I just became an advanced reviewer not to long ago I didn't feel like an outcast. The luxury of EF is that there are MANY aspects of the site. Not everyone here belongs to the review program, a lot just come to earn points, make purchases and what not. Don't feel like an outcast we are all here for the same reason the LOVE we have for sex

Never... I greatly appreciate the reviews. Theyre highly important to my shopping decision
08/01/2012
Only a little. And barely at that. Once when I found some poll or discussion and it was for reviewers only. But pretty much just that time.
08/01/2012
Not particularly. Though I wouldn't mind being a reviewer, actually.
08/01/2012
Well, you know my answer. But,I think that the fact that not one single person other than you and I,on this thread hasn't joined the reviewer program is very telling.Everyone is a reviewer on this site.
08/01/2012
Nope. Wife made me write one review. I prefer to just read them.
08/01/2012
I see many contributors who don't review. I wouldn't think they would feel like an outcast, because we are welcoming to everyone. If you want to feel more included in community things; doing things that contribute to the community is the way to do it. Whether it's coming up with good threads that keep the forum interesting, commenting and interacting with other contributors, writing reviews, or anything else that contributes to the community. Those who aren't a reviewer and feel outcasted likely feel this way because they don't contribute enough to be noticed by many contributors.
08/01/2012
Many are non-reviewer members.
08/01/2012
Please do not feel that way. I've been here for over three years and have only written five reviews, and nobody treats me like an outcast. Follow Beck's suggestions and be active in other ways, and you'll feel connected to the Eden community.
08/01/2012
I never thought that and I just became an advanced reviewer. For me it's just a great way to imform others on a product and earn some extra points. But I wouldn't blame people if they don't do them because they do take a lot of time. They take for me like 45 mins to an hour. I hope that's normal too Lol.

Oh my goodness! You should never feel like you are an outcast for not wanting to review products. I am so sorry you and she feel this way. The review program is amazing, but not everyone wants to put themselves under scrutiny nor does everyone feel the need to tell the world about what toys they own.

Most of us are reviewers but we do not mean to exclude you. Perhaps you would prefer to join in on some of the clubs? I know Eden Lit could really use some readers, Eden Cooks is always looking for feedback and amazing recipes, and Eden DIY is practical and fun.
At any rate this is a community and we can't all be one thing...can you imagine if everyone in town was a lawn care specialist? You are most welcome here and you should feel proud to stand up and announce your presence!
Vive la non reviewing members of our community! Now, what would you like to see to make you feel more at home?

I'm a reviewer with over 200 reviews and honestly, there have been times where I have felt "outcast-y" too! I think Airen made some excellent suggestions. Maybe you'd like to join a club or something?
My suggestion would be to just keep an eye out for the people on the forums that seem nice, open, friendly, etc and then maybe leave them a little comment on their wall. There are a lot of people who love making friends on this website (both reviewers and non-reviewers). I'm one of those people so if you ever wanna chat or anything, I'm up for it! oh, and I am already following you

One last thing:
You should check out this thread that Stormy made: link
If you read through the responses, you'll find a lot of people who are interested in making new friends so it'd be a great place to start!

Yes, I am also a reviewer. However, there are many times when I also feel like an outcast, I do not have a lot of topics for discussion, I am older than many people who review, I review toys for my husband and I and I participate in some activities in our personal life that has drawn some negativity from others.
However, there are also many rewarding aspects--I have made some good friends, when I have participated in the discussions and put myself out there to be part of the site. It all depends on how active you want to be.
I personally, appreciate those who are not reviewers--you guys keep us honest with our reviews, have excellent points of opinion on items and may have some very inspiring and thought provoking threads. I get tired of all the "On your review" threads here. I have a couple of friends I have made from the site that have no desire to review--they hate to write. They also give me great ideas on what they would like to see more of in the reviews.
So--I thank you guys who do not review and are a part of our family like community, it takes all of us to make it work!!!!1

A bit. I planned to go through the mentor program and write a first review, but had no time to do so. I'm also not skilled with words, particularly as english isn't my first language.
08/01/2012
I review, but I know of many contributors who don't that I respect and like. I know of them because they are active on the forums, vote on and comment on review, and otherwise contribute to the community. Rossie (who posted earlier) is a great example of this.
08/01/2012
Nah...I will review eventually, but it isnt a priority
08/01/2012
Sometimes I feel like and outcast and I am an Advanced reviewer! LOL! I realize it's because I have hard time getting involved and that is on me.

Well as a non reviewer, most of the time I feel I am an accepted part of the community. The times I feel less welcome are when some unhappy reviewers start campaigning to not allow us to vote on reviews or want limit our participation in other ways, and when I run across threads that only allow reviewers to participate. This is especially frustrating when I have those toys and have something I feel is meaningful to add. I have what I think is a nice collection of toys and just because I don't choose to review does not mean I don't know what I am talking about. When I am feeling left out I choose to focus on the contributors who are friendly and do make me feel welcome! Over all EF is a friendly and welcoming community. Next time you feel left out drop by my page to say hi and I will be sure to reply!

Eden Lit isn't a book club it's a writing club! We need readers who aren't afraid to share their appreciation or criticism of our writing. I was also assuming that you probably wouldn't want to write for a club if you really don't want to review toys! However, if I am mistaken then please stop by and see what's going on.

They can campaign all they want but reviewers will never have sole right to vote on reviews because reviews are not written for reviewers they are written for the buying public looking for information about a toy. THEY are the only votes that really matter because a review that is helpful to another reviewer but useless to a customer is a useless review.

If you have a toy and feel you want to add something meaningful to a review, perhaps something forgotten, and I have reviewed the toy feel free to add your thoughts to my review in the comments. I will not take offense and it could help a customer. I know there are other reviewers who feel the same. If you own the toy you are an expert, end of story!

I have several friends that are not reviewers Gracie who introduced herself earlier is amazing and I take her advice on a lot of products I'm considering on buying.
