Yes I am a legalist with speed
Do you drive the speed limit?
05/31/2011
Usually between 10 and 15 over!

Usually I drive between the speed limit and 5 over.

Out here on the freeways you have to do at least 10 over or face the wrath of other drivers. They don't call it the birth place of road rage for nothing. I checked 10 on the poll but it is usually closer to 15 since the average speed is about 80-85 around here. Gotta keep up with everyone else.

I'm scared of tickets and police, so I only do either 5 or 10 miles ahead. I live in a big city where everyone drives extremely fast, and I am a slow poke in their eyes

Getting somewhere a little faster isn't worth the rise in insurance rates from a ticket, so I go the speed limit.
06/02/2011
I usually go 5-10 over. Only more than 10 over if I'm on the interstate.
06/02/2011
I go 5 over too. Unless its in a school zone... then def only the posted limit! Kids are so unpredictable!! Plus around here they have speed cameras so you will get a tix in the mail if you are speeding, which I think is GREAT around schools!!

It really depends where I am. On the interstate I go 5-10 over. In a neighborhood, depending on the time, I drive on the dot or slower. It also depends on the car. My husband's car is spot on but my car is 5 slower than it says.

Sadly, my home state of Illinois has now instituted mandatory jail time for 40 mph over the limit or more. Not that long ago I regularly exceeded the speed limit by that much and more.

Usually at speed limit, sometimes less but at most about 5 over. I am definitely one of those people shaking my first as you fly by me, screaming something about "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!"

In some areas there is a clear reason for a low speed limit. Such as a residential neighborhood where there may be children playing. There I either do the speed limit or even lower if there are cars parked on the side of the road that may be hiding children. However, on limited access multi lane roads like an Interstate, speed limits seem to be more to generate revenue from speeding tickets than promoting safety. Just look at the Autobahn road system back in Germany on which I've driven countless thousands of miles when I lived there... Speed Thrills!

Inattention Kills!
Even at slow speed, Please don't drive distracted.

I go around the speed limit just because I hate dealing with cops.

I think it depends on the amount of traffic, the speed limit, what everyone else is going, and the location. sometimes I will drive the speed limit, usually I am found going 5-15 over, and then there are times I'm a speed demon (with hefty tickets to prove it!)

My speedometer is off by approx. 4mph. I try to go the speed limit in town, or 5-10mph over on the interstate during the day in perfect road conditions. I drive on the dot in school zones and construction zones. I cannot chance a ticket, I am far far too poor to pay one.

it depends on the road and weather conditions. on the highway, in fine weather without too much traffic, 70-80 is okay, (10-20 miles past the speed limit) but in a twisty road i prefer the speed limit. Just don't bolt past someone where it's difficult to pass, or ride their ass.
10/09/2011
About 10 over.
10/09/2011
I try to go between five and ten over but on my way back from colorado I found myself doing 15 over on the highway. Didn't get pulled over though. And everyone else was doing about the same too. I have trouble going the actual speed limit though. It just never feels right.

I don't never have been able too. On the highway It's more like 20 to 30 over the speed limit.

I've gotten 4 speeding tickets. So, after FINALLY learning it's not fun to break the law, I stay within 5 miles an hour now...
10/09/2011
Usually around 7 over.

Usually 5 over

I always go at the speed limit on local roads. On the highway I'll usually drive at the speed limit, or up to 5 over.
10/10/2011
On the heavily traveled interstate highway (I-290) portion of my commute the official limit is 55 but nearly everyone is going at least 70. The isolated person doing the speed limit is not only an impediment to the flow of traffic but creating a safety hazard.

I'm a nervous driver, so I try to stick right to the speed limit.
01/12/2012
Usually five over sometimes faster. Ah the joys of a turboed vehicle
01/12/2012
I like to drive either speed limit or a lil over not alot

I generally follow the 5-10 mph or over depending on the area. As a pilot, there are no roads or lines, and therefor, when I am on public streets it seems that everyone is driving in slow motion!!

I usually go 5 to 10 over, usually on the lower limits. But if it's 55, I try to keep it at 60, though I admit that some times I might go a little over if I'm not paying attention. On the interstate I definitely get up to 10 to 15 over.
