Are you so patriotic that you will only buy vehicles from your country regardless of safety features, fuel economy, etc?
Do you buy only vehicles from your country?

There are a few American made cars I would buy but at the moment I own only one and it was a graduation gift from my dad, a 1970 Camaro...The cars I have bought myself are a 2008 Nissan 350Z and a 2010 Nissan Murano...I really love my cars!!

Yes, I always choose American made in all consumer products whenever possible.

I try to buy vehicles that are built in the US, but I also consider many other factors. Safety, reliability, functionality, price and resell value are all important considerations.
It is important to note that many "domestic" vehicles are actually manufactured outside of the states while many of the "imports" are in fact manufactured here. When I was recently considering a new vehicle, I found that many of the Chevy cars on my local dealers lot were actually manufactured outside of the states. Ironically, a significant percentage of Hondas sold in the United States are manufactured here.

Besides a ram and a dodge viper, there aren't any american cars that we want to buy. We like japanese and german cars.

As much as I would like to, the mechanic in me tells me that others make better vehicles. After 35 years of turning wrenches, I can tell you I have worked on more american cars that all the other country's combined. Sad but true.
Funny though, there are two Fords sitting in the driveway right now.

I only buy used cars, so I don't care what kind they are.

I don't have a bias when it comes to cars. I want the best features for the money.

For years I wouldent buy anything unless it was american. Now I have had several Japaneese cars and I am starting to like them quite a bit.

I'm a faithful VW buyer. My Jetta is a 96' and has never let me down, it gets amazing gas mileage and the thing has been wrecked 4 times and still doesn't have any issues. I also have a VW Beetle, it's a 2000 diesel turbo. I love it, it's never had any issues or ever broke down on me and the mileage on it is amazing also. I have never really liked any other types of vehicles.

We never buy new cars - we buy mostly used US brands, but many foreign name plates are actually made in the US.

I WISH! But it doesn't leave a lot of choice.
But we refuse to touch any cars from China or Korea! They are absolute cheap shit.

Strange isn't it? I'll bet a lot of folks don't know that...I did not. Very ironic.

I choose to base my vehicle purchase on what fits my needs and wants rather than base it on JUST where it was built. Indeed, so many manufacturers now outsource so many components it's difficult to determine which are built where. Some years ago I drove a Toyota that was assembled in Canada and my buddy drove a Dodge that was assembled in Mexico. I believe the BMW Z4 is assembled at BMW USA's Greer, South Carolina plant. So it's rather difficult to say, isn't it.

I am going to catch flack for this. Sorry. Decades ago I worked summers on the Detroit assembly line. I did not like what I saw there. Japanese were putting out MUCH better quality. However, a lot of relatives work in Detroit for the car companies, and I KNOW Detroit is now putting out a FAR, FAR higher quality product then in the past. However, my past experience just kept me from buying "American" for years, even though I bought EVERYTHING ELSE, "made in the USA" whenever possible.

Now, however, I DO own a domestic car...a FORD, my first in decades (I still own a Toyota and a Honda), and I must admit, this FORD is a SUPER NICE DRIVING and well built, well DESIGNED vehicle. Bravo Detroit!!! (of course my Honda was built in Ohio and my Toyota was built in Kentucky, I think...so what does that say???).

This is what I used to believe and what WAS pretty much true. However, like me, it is worth another hard look. American made cars have REALLY changed and what you THINK are "foreign made" may well be USA made anyway!
