Do you break for squirrels?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
Exactly what the questions asks. I have heard some people say "I am not getting in a wreck to save a long tailed rat", but I could never run over any creature knowingly. I have stopped to move a turtle off the side of the road even. I stop or swerve all the time for squirrels. How about you?

I have only ever hit a bird, and that was because it flew into me and I had no way to avoid it! I always avoid all animals.

Of course I will stop for a squirrel, as long as I'm not putting myself in danger in the process.

Only if I feel it won't endanger myself or anyone else. I've never actually hit a squirrel but the buggers have had some pretty close calls beneath my tires.

I always stop for animals, and if someone's tailgating me, I'll pull over and let them pass just in case someone or something runs out in front of me. I don't want any deaths on my conscious.

As long as it's not going to hurt anyone else than I do. If the person behind me is going to hit me or something than no.

If there is no danger to myself or others by doing so, then yes.

Nope, since trying to avoid a squirrel is the easiest way to end up hitting a squirrel

I will not try to hit them but neither will I put myself or others in jeopardy for the animal's sake.

I don't really drive since I live in Manhattan, but yes, I'd break for a squirrel or any other animal provided it wouldn't put me or anyone else in danger.

I always watch out, slow down and stop to let animals cross, and there are plenty here in the Northwest.

Yes, I've even stopped for a shrew on the road once (surprised I even saw the little guy). It's just sort of my first reaction when I see any kind of animal on the road to avoid it, if it's at all possible.

I break for nothing. I don't drive, soo... yeah. If I did, I would at least slow down, though.

I always attempt to avoid hitting animals. Once I hit a jackrabbit by accident (I was driving the speed limit, but he just popped out of nowhere) and I felt so bad, I went back to see if he could be saved but he was dead as a doornail.

I always try to avoid any animal or bird. That does not mean I am always successful at it--but I do try.I bawl like a baby if I was not able to miss them.

Yes, especially back roads here in the Northwest. I have hit a rabbit. It hopped out of a ditch and onto the road one night when I was on a dark back road. I really do try to slow down and avoid animals at all costs.
