Do you actually

Contributor: Cherrylane Cherrylane
read what people have replied to a thread before you post?

It's pretty understandable to not read every reply in some of those threads that have 100+ responses, but a lot of times I feel like many people read whatever the original post was and then reply directly to that without giving too much thought to what other people have already said about it. I know I do it on occasion... What about you? Do you think it's a problem?

It depends on how interested I am in the topic. Some posts gauge better toward a larger discussion among the community than others, as well.

Depends. Usually I start to read, but I can get bored quickly.

I usually read a few of the replies but if it's really long, I don't read them all.

i do sometimes, depends on what the topic is. sometimes someone asks an interesting question that i'm curious to see what others have to say.

If I get in early on a discussion I will read most of the posts - unless the posts are really long, I just don't have time for the long winded ones.

If I run across something with several pages - I don't go back and read everything.

I'm a fast skim reader, but if it has pages and pages I'm not going to read every single reply.

I try to most of the time, especially when it's something that can get heated because a lot of times things get worked out farther into the thread and when people don't take the time to see what progress has already been made there's just a whole lot of drama based on the first post. I'm also a very naturally curious person, so I like to see what's happened before I get there.

Great question, really. When we really have time, we read ALL the posts on some questions of great interest to us. If it is a simple question, where our own opinion carries as much weight (which vibe should I buy?), we may just answer and MIGHT grab a glance at what others said....but really, in that case, We KNOW which ones we like, so we don't need to read a ton of comments...good or bad. Really depends on topic and question.

I do this too. Depending on how many responses there are, I skim through several and then respond if I have something to say.

Most of the time, depends on the thread, if it something heated were thing may change I since the initial post i read the whole thing. If it something silly I tend to skip to the end more often.

Yep, depends on what the topic is. If it's bdsm/fetish related I'm more than likely going to read all the posts since I'm in a 24/7 D/s relationship with my husband. Other topics of interest I'll read too, but about half the time I read the question, etc. and the first few posts.

If I'm curious about what other people say I read them, and sometimes I just have a response and I post it without reading other posts. I don't think its a problem if people don't read any of the other posts.

It really depends on what the topic is, how serious it is and what is being asked. I have occasionally just answered, but do enjoy reading most of the threads.
