Direct Sales?

Contributor: LuckyDucky LuckyDucky
I was just wondering if anyone else was involved with a direct sales company? There are so many out there and I love finding new ones to shop with!

Right now I am a rep with Avon, a company I really love and trust. And I love Avon's website where you can shop with your favorite rep, but not have to wait for delivery! Plus anyone from any area can buy from me and get their items shipped directly too them.
For the holiday season there is free shipping on ALL orders plus tons of great items on sale. link
If you are interested in selling Avon it is just $10 to start! Their products are safe, dependable and not tested on animals.

Come January I will be a rep with The Pink Zebra. I'll share that info with you all closer to that time

Anyone else out there??? This is also a great chance for those who may want to sell to learn more about companies and get involved!

Sold AVON, not my thing. I'll stick with selling sex toys online, thanks.

Ugh, avon=overpriced war paint. If you're going to advertise stuff, do it on the classifieds please.

Wow I ask a polite question if anyone else has a job through direct sales (scentsy, mary kay, etc) and I get rudeness. Thanks a lot. Great welcome for me around here.

Maybe I was wrong about this place being full of nice, polite adults.

The first paragraph was a question. The rest was an advertisement. That's why you got the response you did.

Anyway, I'll play along to be nice. I work in sales but not direct sales. I worked in insurance for a while long ago which I suppose is similar in that you make your own hours and go to people's homes. While I enjoyed working out and about I did not enjoy being 1099, not having health insurance, having insane sales quotas, working 80+ hours a week, or the pyramid scheme that was management. I don't know how much of that is true for makeup sales. What I do know is that at least some of it will be (sales quotas at least) because sales is sales no matter if you're selling makeup, insurance, or whatever other item or service you can think of. All I've ever done my whole life is sales and it all boils down to the same thing.

I much prefer my corporate sales job to my somewhat direct sales job. Of course, no job is perfect. Nevertheless, I'm much happier where I am with my nice benefits and 40-50 hour work week. The lack of pyramid scheme that is so prevalent in direct sales is also refreshing.

I sold Cutco (knives, gardening tools, flatware, pots/pans) for a bit and may pick it up again if I get desperate. I like the products and meeting people during appointments, but I HATE calling and asking if I can show people them and asking my current customers for referrals!
