Dating for single parents

I have a question for single parents, or people who had single parents, what was the dating like? Specifically, what was the caliber of dating partners? Good, bad, abusive? This is for an idea I have about a sexis article and what I remember about my mom dating isn't enough data. I would appreciate any info, thank you.
