What, no option for zero? I don't believe in credit cards, personally. Might get one down the road just to build credit rating and do a buy-pay-buy-pay thing with it. Can't stand the idea of debt like that...
Credit Cards???

I don't have any. And now I feel lame because I couldn't vote in the poll.

alot, but I only use one. And it gets paid of every month. I love the points I get from it. Makes for some nice cash back checks every year.

Never ever. Will not ever.

I hate them. We have too many of them. With kids and all the crap they need, plus constant need for appliances, clothing for children, shoes for kids, home repairs etc. you end up spending more on the interest than what you bought.
They were at one time a "convenience" ; ; ; but I don't see how people do without them. How does one rent a car, or make a airline reservation without "special treatment" at the airport? How do you make hotel reservations? Buy things online? So many things require a credit card. You can't even get a hotel room without a credit card, at least in nearly all the places we've been. My Man has a corporate card from his job. It's required from his employer. He needs it to do business properly. It's essential for middle class life. I couldn't do it with just cash. There is too much that requires credit.
I didn't say I liked it that way, it's just the way of the world.
I've talked to the credit card companies and gotten some of my cards interest rates lowered significantly. I wish My Man would do it with the rest of them, which are in his name. He hates to ask for things. But this interest is killing us. We never really bought things we didn't need, but when your cash is all going towards bills, and the kids need shoes or medication etc, what are you supposed to do? One of the kids needs $100.00 copay antibiotics and is sick as a dog and you have $10.00 in cash in your purse, and $60.00 in the bank? Is the kid supposed to just remain sick? I can't do without them, I wish there were an other way. If there were, I'd take it.
It's rough.

We have a few major and a few store cards ( that we use occasionally ), but we pay them off every month.
09/15/2011
I have the 3 major ones, and then a few store cards that you have to use to get sale prices on certain items. I make sure not to charge more than I can afford to pay off at the end of the month, but you just never know when an emergency situation will come up like P'Gell mentioned.

Right now non people keep telling me I should to build credit they are probably right but those things scare me. My student loan are already giving me enough debut related stress.

We have one that we put EVERYTHING on & then I pay it off each week. We earn massive Cash Rewards from it & I <3 Free money The rule we have is: We only put something on the card if we have the cash to pay it off!

Regular non store cards - 1
Store cards that can also be used anywhere - 1
Store cards - 4+
I used to have like 9 credit cards, mostly stores. I downsized a bit. I only use 1-2 on a monthly basis for gas mostly.

We have one card that we use for everything. All the household bills, gas, groceries, medical, everything is paid on this card. We get serious airline miles and it gets paid off each month. We also have two department store cards for appliance and clothing rewards/percentage off each purchase which rarely get used, and my husband has a corporate card he uses for business only. We rarely carry a balance on them, but sometimes life happens and it is nice to let things ride for a few months.
We travel often; discount priced tickets, rental cars, and hotel rooms are not offered to the people showing up at the counter in person. Hell, when you try to purchase a ticket, even over the phone, sometimes you have to pay a $10-$20 fee for personal customer service. No, thank you! I'll keep that money and purchase online myself with my credit card.

I have one....necesarry evil as I see it

I don't really believe in credit cards, but I did sign up for a store card once. The clerk was being really helpful and letting me use a huge pile of coupons when they clearly said "one per customer", and then hinted that she did get a bonus if I applied for a card. I got it, but I've only ever used in a handful of times.

I have two.
1) Personal. I use it very wisely and I ALWAYS make sure I can pay back the bill at the end of the month. A good teacher of mine back in high school recommended we all get one to help us preserve our credit. She said to get one, spend wisely, and make our credit look good. I've done that ever since. I use it for gas and lunch only.
2) Business. I have a business credit card simply because I run my own business (Mary Kay). I use it to buy gifts for the women who host parties, and I use it for random expenses that come up. This doesn't happen often, and I'm always able to pay the bill at the end of the month.
Other than that I have one debit card. I prefer debit simply because I can put a limit on my spending. When I check out at a grocery store or wherever, it will say "declined" even if I have $100 left. That helps me make sure to keep that $100 in my account at all times, no matter what. I'm yet to have that happen though.

One debit and one credit. I only use the credit so I can build my rating, but I prefer to go debit when possible. I don't have too much to buy anyways.
