Clutch or coach

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
So I was walking around today with a small purse, which is more than I normally carry since I normally find it inconvenient. But I was watching some women with giant bags, and I got to thinking, because I've done the giant bag, and I've done the little bag, and I've done no bag. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, but I honestly couldn't really pick one I preferred the most.

Do any of you ladies have a preference? Guys you can feel free to answer for yourselves or your ladies

I prefer something moderately sized. I want a little extra room to keep the essentials company.

I have no preference on bag size, as long as it holds what I need for what I'm doing at that moment

I use all different sized bags. It just depends on the day.

Same here - if I'm bringing my laptop, or netbook, or camera, then I need a bigger bag. Otherwise, I opt for a medium bag. I do loooove bags though (I'm lookin' at you, Vera Wang).

This is something I was thinking about earlier, you psychic

I have this beat up brown leather bag I haul everything in, from multicolored Sharpies to happy meal toys and mascara, but in this heat? Holy crap, it drags me down! I have a smaller black one I'm thinking about transfering the more important stuff into, because the big ole bag is just too much to haul around to classes...

Wait why don't I have a bookbag like a normal person? Dammit!

I have a messenger bag I use if I have a lot of things to carry.

I like to wear a bag with two straps, like a mini bookbag, sorta. Then my shoulders feel the weight evenly and it won't fall off while I'm walking around. I wear my bag most places but I'd much rather carry nothing extra, or just have my keys in my pocket and that's it.

Depends on the occasion. I used to carry a big purse but I would load it up with unnecessary stuff and it would get super heavy. So I use a medium sized bag most of the time that fits the essentials plus a few extras. I just grab one of my huge bags when I know I need to bring some extra stuff, and clutches when I don't need to bring very much.

I hate carrying a purse - period. It's a waste of my hand space. I basically just take my wallet when we go out somewhere - and I make the boyfriend put it in his pocket. If I'm going to work, I take my "purse" with me because it keeps my laptop and my books, but I only basically use it as a storage bag - not an everyday purse.

I have purses in all shapes and sizes. I generally gravitate towards medium sized bags though so I can carry a book, my boyfriends crap, etc.

I am a coach whore.. Both of my diaper bags are even coach. I have alot more to carry with my daughter so a larger bag is a must with a toddler. You never know when you will need a toy or a snack. But before my daughter I used small to medium sized bags, never clutches.

I have a lot of purses, most of them big. My husband is afraid to get anything out of them - he says he never knows if something will bite

I hate carrying any sort of bag, I would lose my head if it wasn't attached. I've lost/left so many purses that were expensive, I just don't want to take the chance anymore. Even now my diaper bag is a backpack so my other half will wear it lol. I did have a little clutch I LOVED, then my brother said it looked like an old grandma wallet, so I haven't touched it since haha.

I don't really like carrying anything but usually have to. It sucks because most jeans for women have smaller tighter pockets. If I'm running an errand, I'll grab by wallet or clutch, otherwise I have an average bag.

So, I picked three But I have a plethora of purses in an array of sizes, ranging from clutch to bordering on the size of a duffel bag. I prefer to use medium-sized bags. But the ones that hold my laptop are always nice

I go between extremes, especially in the summer.

Sometimes, I'll just carry a casual clutch with my phone, my wallet, and a lipgloss.

Other times, I need this freakin' huge tote that carries everything I could ever need in it.

I've got purses in all different sizes too. For me, if I'm going to use a purse, it's probably going to be more the size of a clutch, because I don't wanna lug the whole thing around. When I was in college I ended up one semester with one pretty decent sized bag for each class and just kept them all lined up next to each other or stacked together in my car, lol.

If a bunch of us are going to the movies I'll grab a bigger bag so we can pack our own candy and such, and while I'm at work during the day I have my wallet in my pocket.

I prefer something between clutch and moderate sized. I have a certain amount of things I need to carry, so of course it must accommodate them. But with that said, I like it to be the smallest it can to carry what I need. Then I still have a few other bags that are very small for a night on the town, and larger ones for when I need them. I kind of have a handbag addiction and own over 25 bags that I use. lol

For going out somewhere - pub, club, party - I stick with small, just enough to hold money, keys, lipstick or I just shove it all in my pocket. For daily use, I have a fairly large bag that holds all sorts of stuff. For on the bike I have a tiny bag that holds camera, lip balm, cash and ID.

I don't carry anything except maybe a backpack to hold books and such. Most things I need fit in my wallet just fine, which is in my back pocket complete with a chain.

I prefer a larger bag. I carry the essentials in it, money, id, hand sanitizer, chap stick, keys, cellphone, pen. But I like it big, just in case I need to stuff other things in there, like an umbrella, or my books, or my ipod, whatever. I like having room.

If I'm at school it better hold my MacBook. I have an octopus messenger bag I bought on Etsy that I love. I rarely carry a purse though.

Just got hold of a hardly-used lavender suede Liz Claiborne medium-sized organizer purse for $4 at the Goodwill. I prefer the medium-sized purses with lots of pockets. Digging around in a bag seems to be a waste of time and makes people impatient behind you in line.

When just running to the store? Cardcase holding ID and money and placed in my pocket or bra; the one that says "Well-behaved women seldom make history".

This is funny -- I JUST purchased a new purse today. I haven't gotten a new one in over a year, and it was time. It took me forever to find one that I like! I am a big fan of single-strap purses because I have really small shoulders (what a weird thing to say), so two straps just doesn't work for me.

I wanted something a little larger than my previous Coca-Cola purse because I just got a Kindle and wanted to carry that with me. If I'm going out, I just take my wallet, which is a cigarette case.

Clutches are only for a night out for me. They are inconvenient because they do not attach to me (except for my coach one). I prefer my medium sized briefcase/purse because it fits my important documents but has room for my girly things too.

My purse has to be somewhat of a decent size because I HAVE to have my inhaler with me, as well as chap stick, my wallet (which is huge unfortunately), and generally a pack of tissues and gum. I ascribe to the "boy scout motto" of purses, in that I like to always be prepared for whatever might arise in my excursion. This, of course, does not include all the stuff that comes with a toddler (I totally agree with you, onehotmamma55!), which rides in a backpack separate from my purse. People tell me to just carry the backpack and put my crap in there, but I don't want to have to un-pack and re-pack every time I go out without the child.

I prefer a purse the size of a clutch. Only the essentials for me. I'd rather not carry anything at all, but since I need a place for my wallet and keys I use a small/moderately sized bag.
