Wood beams from the choices given but If I had my choice it would be a combination between Oak wood beams and Clear coated steel "I" beams.

I think I prefer having some visual interest up there. Windows could be bad in a storm or something, though, so wooden beams would be good.

Plain flat ceilings with the really neat angled ceilings on the top floor.

I'd love more than one option here.
I've seen some stuff done with zebra wood lately that has looked really neat. Overall, though, if it's plastered, I'd like it to have no texture at all

a box beam ceiling. I love craftsman styled houses.

I would want windows, not for the entire ceiling but maybe in a sitting room, especially if the ceiling is angled. I had some friends who had a window in the ceiling of their living room and it was always so cool to watch through it when it rained.

I'd love plain or possibly glass. I hate those popcorn textured celings, we have them in our current house and I just don't find it attractive.

like the wood

I like exposed beams because it's easier to hang stuff from. Plus, I'd make it accessible for the cats I'll have. They'll appreciate being able to spy on their hoomans.

I'd really like to have a ceiling with those recessed areas that have partially-hidden lights, so that the light is very ambient.

My dream house would be exposed beams.
I just moved into a new rental with textured ceilings; they look like someone took star-shaped sponge to apply the paint one pat at a time. I spent a lot of time wondering HOW one could do that until I finally got Internet at the house (it was a reallly boring week once the boxes were empty). I can't decide if I like that texture or not.

some kind of awesome pattern

flat, definitely. I need to easily be able to squish spiders, and clean it. My kids are pros at destroying walls and even the ceiling.

I would say plain. I like to keep things simple and I won't have to worry about it clashing with anything else.

All I have to say is that you people who chose "I'd like to live in a greenhouse" are balls-out insane! I work in a greenhouse frequently, and I think I would die if I had to live in one! lol

I would love to have wooden beams in the living areas of the house, but in the bedrooms, I would prefer plain flat ceilings. I have heavily textured ceilings currently, and dust gathers and hangs off of the texture like Spanish moss. If you try to clean it off, you end up scraping bits of the ceiling texture off, and you end up with these ugly bare patches of sheetrock. It's really frustrating.

Id love a glass see through ceiling w/ retractable blinds through a double glass pane (for insulating and keeping heat out)

I've never really thought about it, but I guess a plain, flat ceiling would be the easiest to keep clean. I'd hate to deal with the dust that would collect on other options.

Glass would be really interesting

I'd love a glass ceiling so I could lie in bed and watch the sky.

A plain ceiling sounds good to me.

I voted plain flat, but I would have lots of sky lights

some kind of design on it im not sure what its called

Plain is fine, although glass would be interesting/nice if you could somehow close it when you want.
