Cat owners: Do you let your cat outdoors?

Contributor: Terri69 Terri69
Kitty is an indoor cat. I have never let her outside. How many of you have an indoors cat?

I would never let my cat outdoors. I would be too scared if something bad would happen to him.

All three of our cats are indoors-only, I would never let them outside.

My cat is an outside cat. She was a stray and is cool with being outside.

My cat used to be an indoor/outdoor cat, but because we're in the middle of the city now, I'm not comfortable letting her outside anymore. I know she misses the outdoors, but I can't handle the thought of her getting run over or killed.

No. We never have. They can get diseases from being outside. Plus we have a neighbor who is the local "crazy cat lady." She has a shed that has heated water for the local wildlife, puts out a 16lbs bag of cat food a day, bird food, and then some. It attracts all the local cats, but raccoons, opossums, and everything else. It's best for them to be inside. Especially, since she told us one of her cats has Feline AIDS. Luckily, our cats are too chicken to even try to go outdoors.

My cat stays inside, and never attempts to go out even if the opportunity presents itself. There's so many risk factors outdoors - other animals, traffic (especially in the city), the more violent cat-haters, etc. - and an indoor cat can be perfectly happy if provided with ways to keep busy and have fun.

No, I worry too much. I feel bad for the wild, outdoor kitties. If I could, I'd bring em' all in. I prefer my pets to be indoor pets.

Oh, and he's neutered, so he doesn't have the drive to roam

My cat lives with my parents because while I was living with them he got used to being able to go out. He would never be happy in an apartment. My preference is for cats to stay inside, but even before he got to go out he tried to escape constantly. I don't think there's any rehabbing him. lol
