Wow, how are you all feeling about it? I didn't watch the trial but hearing the evidence I can't believe they found her not guilty of murder.

I am flabbergasted. My only hope is that the reason for the acquittal was lack of physical evidence, and not her crappy blame it all on other people, I was abused! defense.

i'm really not surprised. i'm totally convinced that she did it, but for some reason, not surprised they found her not guilty. look at OJ.

I don't understand at all.. She obviously did it. It makes no damn sense.

I'm surprised but unfortunately these things have happened before.

One can only hope that the lack of physical evidence is what made the jury unable to convict beyond a reasonable doubt. There were too many things that didn't add up with her story and lies.

No proven cause of death, motive, or physical evidence. I get it, but it is sickening. It shows the flaws in our system as it was obvious she was a horrible mother and a heartless killer. People seemed to have been convinced she was going to be convicted because on some shows they were talking about what prison she would be sent to and how long it would take for her to get the needle.

i find it sad that this is the sort of thing 'everyone is talking about.' if the media focused more on the positive things happening in our society instead of harping, harping, HARPING on the horrific, terrible things, imagine how things could be different?
what you think about you bring about and god, how true that is! unfortunately that reality leaves us with alot of responsibility in our thoughts and words.

the same thing happened with OJ. He got his in the end. She will also. It will catch up with her and she will have to pay the price of her choices she made in life.

I think this type of harping could be used as a jumping off point to start thoughtful discussions about what brings about these kinds of horrors, and the social and economic forces that bring about widespread child abuse (particularly in other countries). However, instead of doing that, the opportunity is usually wasted in exchange for wanton bloodlust.

How do we feel about it? Very very sad. We live here, so this case has been something that everyone has followed closely right from the start. And to quote a neighbor, the investigators really "screwed the pooch" on this one starting in 2008. In the beginning they failed to explore all avenues, and some of the potential evidence didn't seem to have been handled all that well. In the end they presented mostly circumstantial evidence that really did leave reasonable doubt. The jury couldn't have voted any other way based on what they were presented. They weren't presented with enough though.
There are a lot of angry people here right now, and one of the things that they're asking is why were there no more charges brought up in the trial? Since the court seemed to be so gung-ho about the drowning theory, and established on national TV that without a doubt the child could & did leave the house on her own and enter the pool area from time to time, where was the Criminal negligence charge? What about Obstruction of justice for withholding evidence about what happened to the baby right from the beginning? And even though it's small potatoes in the big picture, where were the charges for those stolen checks she doled out right after the baby disappeared? And Purgory? She and her mother both were clearly guilty of that. Those are just a few of the dozens of potential other charges that we've heard people around here saying that she should have been hit with, which might have kept her in jail for at least some small measure of justice. But instead she's just going to get a slap on the wrist for lying to the police. It's pitiful.

I'm glad to see the system 'working' as far as not being able to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, but there's no justice for poor Caylee. On top of that, there's no way Casey can go back to a normal life anyway. She's alienated herself from her family and surely no one will ever hire her now. It's all just so sad.

There really wasn't enough evidence to convict her but I agree they should have charged her with more. Everyone knows now she's a nut case so it'll be interesting to see what happens to her.
