have you ever bought something online, like ebay, & gotten a sick feeling after paying for it b/c even though it's something you REALLY wanted, it cost you a lot of money? i just bought a pair of light up stripper shoes that i've always wanted. i found out today that i didn't have to pay the rest of my tuition b/c i got a pell grant, so i'm actually getting a refund of a couple hundred dollars. even though i have a lot of money in my account, i still feel slightly sick b/c i paid so much for these AWESOME shoes. link i got blue lights.

I actually tend to do the total opposite! I'll see something I really want and NOT buy it, and then be haunted by it for weeks until I finally go back and get it!

Not usually. I tend to put a lot of thought into my purchases to asses how much I really want it, am I actually going to use it, and is it a good value. Admittedly, some things just AREN'T a good value, no matter how you look at it. However, if it makes you happy, that's pretty good.
This is, however, very different from buying things you can't afford! I wish my parents would learn this lesson.

I do this. Though more often I'll just not buy anything and wish I had. I have a lot of anxiety over spending money on this I want vs need, even if I have the money to spare.

This happens to me all the time. I always feel guilty for indulging. But it goes away after I receive it, its just the period of time between order and arrival.

those are some bitchin' shoes. i don't really feel remorse because i tend to put hours of thought before i buy something. that way when i get it, i don't hate it!

I'm a hem and haw sort of person. I usually end up talking myself out of stuff I want to buy, even when we do have the money for it. But I agree with Spice, those shoes look pretty sweet (although for klutzes like me, dangerous lol).

i think it bothers me a lot b/c there was also a pair of boots that i wanted just as bad that were much cheaper, but i figured i could save up for those for the next 2 or so weeks.

I'm pretty much the same. I don't like spending money because I'm very frugal. I either get a lot of remorse and beat myself up until i receive the item or I just don't buy anything at all.

We all have to treat ourselves once in awhile. Even better, it wasn't even an impulse purchase, it was something you've been eyeing for awhile. Enjoy your shoes and don't stress.

I don't normally feel that way after buying something I really want. I'm just excited to be getting it and can't wait to have it in my hands.
But often I procrastinate too much and then I miss out. For example: some toys that have discontinued on here
BTW - those shoes sound totally awesome!

I honestly don't think that $50 is much for a pair of awesome shoes but I understand that things are usually much cheaper over there in the states than they are here. Here $50 for a pair of any kind of shoe is cheap, let alone light up stripper shoes.
I've paid well over $200 for a pair of boots that didn't even last me a month.

I'm permanently out of money so I have it every time I buy anything that's not essential. It's the worst with toys that turn out to not work for me. I get one amazing toy out of 3 i buy.

I am becoming more careful, though I'm not all that great at it. I carefully weigh things out a bit more, wondering how much I will use/wear/whatever something and also thinking about the price in comparison to that. And how much extra cash I have in comparison to the cost.
I was reading something recently that suggested that when purchasing something that you don't really need think in terms of how many hours you would need to work to buy something. So if you make $15/hour and you want something that is $60, do you find it to be worth 4 hours of your time to obtain it?

Very, very rarely do I experience buyer's remorse. I'm pretty adamant about researching things and comparing products before I plunk down the CC number.
I really hope you like your new shoes and that they don't cut into your feet.

If I like my purchase when I get it, I don't! But if I get it and it's not what I wanted, I do!
08/20/2011
that is a tough question. I only spend money I have that can be spent. Never borrow money or take it from another bill, just to get something I want. Even if extra money I still have a problem spending alot of money on something I want or could use (like a tool). I am always thinking "what if it goes on sale next week".

It's funny bcs I feel remorse before actually buying it, which is SUPER helpful.
I take a lot of time to decide whether or not I should purchase something, do I need it or do I just want it? Will I use it/wear it, what can I use it with, wear it with, etc.
When I make my decision to purchase, if I feel remorse or guilt, then I do not proceed. If I feel the adrenaline rush of a new purchase, then I follow through.
I have a lot of money so it's not an issue, it's more a question of whether something is going to be useful or not. Having a lot of clothes is less useful than having kitchen ware, or other household items. There is a way to abuse of household items like having way too many of the same thing, but when you need something, no remorse sets in.

I always have it even if I can afford it.... I just always think it could have gone to something better.. even if it's twenty bucks.

I'm the same way even if it's $10.00 I always feel guilty but I also am the type if I don't buy something and I really want it I wish I had! I try to not miss out so most of the time I feel like crap either way! I love the shoes though and I'm sure you'll have fun in them!!
