Are breast implants over?

Contributor: misterazor misterazor
are we done as a society with this madness of breast implants? there are reasons for implants that make sense and some that are about the pressure to be perfect. i wonder if men think like i do...that breast size has nothing to do with anything. i would rather see a tiny titty than a scar. and i would suck all day on either. maybe it's just me. i worry about the emotional issues that would lead a women believe that larger breasts would solve any of her problems. just hopeful that we are almost done with this madness.

I just think the novelty has worn off, so you just don't hear about it that often.

Idunno I think it's just less common. But I know that for some girls I've attended school with, they compared breast sizes the way teenage boys compare dick sizes in the locker rooms.

There was a girl from my old highschool who had implants(and they really messed her chest up, she had to have a later surgery to correct the nipples; not exactly something I'd want to personally deal with after dishing out that much money) but anyway she was a bit... defensive about her appearance. Insecure and would freak out at the implication or direct insult to her 'looks'.

I'm a little bit perplexed by the negativity articulated in some of the other threads on this topic. If a woman wants them, that's her business.

I'm over them. lol. To each his/her own, but I'm anti-cosmetic surgery in general unless it's for firm medical reasons. Mental issues about a person's body should be dealt with in other ways.

I agree with JR.

And it's not about scars for me; it's about odd shapes and the thought of having a foreign material in the body and being disproportionate. I've had a breast reduction and thus have scars, but nobody's been bothered by them and a few people (including myself) really like them

I hope so! They are quite dangerous as far as breast cancer goes.

I've had a reduction because my breasts caused me a lot of pain and deformed my bones. I don't understand why anybody would want to make them bigger and I don't know why I got so much malice from people when they found out I was going to have mine reduced. My own father even said I was "disfiguring" myself and refused to visit or call me after surgery.

I think people definitely still get them. I know a couple of people with them. I guess there might be fewer people getting them the last few years because of the economy.

I don't understand why people are so negative towards people who get them. Just let people do what they want with their body and appearance and leave them alone about it.

agree...it's not about scars. and, in the end, it is about what the person wants...what makes them happy, of course. it's just...elective sergury for implants...i don't get the payoff. for a reduction...that's different. and there's nothing wrong with scars. i wasn't trying to say they were ugly.

for those who think i hate breast implants...i do not. i do not hate scars either...and it doesn't matter what i hate anyway. women who want them should get them...women who have them i hope are happy with them. women thinking about getting them to please someone else or to try to fit a body image created by our society i hope reconsider. and anyone encouraging someone to do it for their own selfish reasons should recognize that her breast size is not going to make her a different person or change her personality, and you will still find something wrong with her even after...and perhaps those people should look internally about that.

i would never judge someone for having changed their appearance in any way...including implants, tattoos, piercings, sex changes...

i just hope that it is that person's choice and not something they are being pressured into. that's all.

i am sorry that certain people made that a difficult thing for you. it should not have been that way.

large breasts are beautiful. i understand why so many women envy them...but i can't understand the lengths they go to get them. i mean, small breasts are beautiful as well.

And I wasn't trying to insinuate that you did. If I was saying something mean-spirited, it would be obvious. But then, I've never had to say anything mean-spirited on Eden. I have no reason to find fault with you. Even if you had said that scars were ugly.....so?

Also, my surgery was solely for aesthetic reasons, so it's really no different from implants (besides not having to deal with maintaining foreign objects in my body). Just adding info for the sake of the purpose of the forums.
