Brand name foods vs. grocery store brands

Contributor: eri86 eri86
In an effort to save a little more money when I shop for groceries, I'll buy the generic brand that that the store carries. But there are a few things I still buy because they taste better. Things like bread and certain condiment brands.

What brand do you have to have?

I buy whatever is cheapest, 99% of the time. With that said, generic peanut butter is usually pretty gross.

I NEVER buy store brand peanut butter, barbeque sauce(or any other since I make my own), cereal, soup or coffee.

I do prefer store brand ravioli to Chef Boyardee, cream cheese, orange juice and pop.

we usually buy store brand, unless brand name is on sale and cheaper

For the most part, I am fine with store brand. However, for mayo, it HAS to be Hellman's. I shop at Trader Joe's mostly, so most of what they carry is their own brand. I have yet to have a problem with any of their products.

I buy generic everything. I'm too broke to care about whether or not it tastes better.

I buy mostly store brand. There isn't a big taste difference many times.

I ONLY buy store brand ketchup. Tastes SO much better than any brand I've ever tried. At least with one store! So I always buy it there.

I'll try the generics, sometimes they're a lot better than name brands. All things equal, I'll go cheap though
