Boiled peanuts??!! Tried them today........

Being from the western US I had NEVER heard of boiled peanuts. I saw some at a store down south and just had to buy a can--yes, they are canned like any other veggie.

We decided to given them a try and.....they are GOOD!!! I could see how these could be addicting, especially with a few beers...

I tried them...wtf did I do wrong? They're so gross. was I supposed to eat the shell too?

Being from the South, boiled peanuts are all the rage. LOL. I'm not even kidding! I smell them cooking all the time just driving down my road. I personally really ain't that fond of em. But I'm not big on peanuts either. I like cashews and almonds and pecans! LOVE them so much, but not a peanut girl.

If the boiled nuts are salted, I'll deal. Otherwise, no thank ya. I think I'm really, truly the only person down here who doesn't love them. Yes, there are lots of stores down here just for boiled peanuts. Never saw them canned though. They're always in a huge bag from Georgia to Dothan, from what I've seen. I only see places where they're cooked right there though.

I love boiled peanuts, both the Southern U.S. and Chinese styles.

Canned boiled peanuts are nothing like the real thing. You need to find a veggie stand js250 and try those. The flavor is drastically different.

The ones in the can have a vinegar based brine and are green peanuts; they're harder and less salty than the real thing.

I love boiled peanuts. If done right, they're creamy and just yummy!

Everytime I drive to Florida I have to stop and buy cajun styled broiled peanuts. They are amazing! I've been meaning to look the recipe up online and make them myself.. They are very addicting

I love boiled peanuts!! Though, I have never had the canned kind. I usually eat them either when my Granny or Dad cooks them. Soooo good and addicting. You can't eat just one.

Born and raised in northern Mississippi....don't see them that much around here, though they sell them all over the place in the southern part of the state....

....that said, they are a vile, disgusting food that shall never again pass my lips.

It's hard to find raw peanuts and impossible to find real boiled peanuts in the northeast.

I love them!

They are definitely peanuts, but just not the roasted kind at all. Different texture and flavor.
