Blog Issues b/c Im promoting Eden-Suggestions???

Contributor: MamaDivine MamaDivine
OK so heres the deal. I have dropped an ungodly amount of viewers/readers/follow ers since I have begun my EdenFantasys promoting. I have tried to keep my postings very mild with the bath and body items, massage items....no inappropriate things that I wouldn't let my own kids see/view....and yet, I have been turned down by about four folks that I considered for sponsorship-FREE Advertising for their in home businesses that they are desperately trying to get off the ground. I offered them free advertisement/promotio ns etc. They don't want to do it now because I advertise for EF. Just because the name is linked to my blog, they want nothing to do with my blog. I have had folks tell me they won't visit or read my blog anymore because of this too.

Im hurtin' for sponsors and followers, and having my numbers drop like that really is making me second guess promoting this site. I love EF so much because they are awesome to us and offer so many awesome things. Its just...I am considering going through with making this a legit business (my blog) and turning it into a co-ownership with my best friend. My best friend is also not going to go through with this business if I continue with EF promoting on my page.

It really hurts. I want them to understand that EF isn't just "sex toys and lingerie" site (which I really think that the motto for EF isn't helping )....So I need suggestions. Anyone? Im working my ass off with this blog for 8 months now!!!! And now Im looking at losing it all just cause of EF. ughhh.

I need suggestions!!!!! please!!!

I'm really sorry to hear that! I probably lost a few followers when I started advertising EF but my blog is just a personal one, really, and if I lose followers, I don't really care. I mean, I do but it's not a huge deal because it's MY blog and I'll do what I want. I still have a decent bit (for a small, non-purpose blog) and I know that the people who follow me are obviously cool because they stay, even when I spam them with dildos. Lol. But I'm really sorry to hear it's affecting you. I hope someone can give you good advice and I hope everything turns around for you.

EDIT: Is your blog on Tumblr? If so, you could suggest that your followers get Tumblr Savior and you could tag your EF posts "EdenFantasys" and/or "Eden Fantasys". That's what I do, in case any of my followers DON'T want to see that stuff. If not, that's the only advice I really have. :/

I've actually gained more followers since promo'ing. Just try to seek out people who you think would enjoy the site.

I'm really sorry that your followers can't understand what Eden is all about; it's their loss in the end but understandable nonetheless. The only thing I can suggest is that you start running two separate blogs, one for Eden/adult themed posts and keep your other blog running with the content as is. It's really difficult to marry an adult industry into a family-friendly blog. Try that, or dig in your heels and change your content to reflect Eden and attract an entirely new set of people. They're out there.

The other thing to consider is that blogging for a living is extremely difficult, extremely time consuming and unless you have SEO experience/training/he lp available, your job is just that much harder. It's not impossible, but do understand that many efforts never get off the ground.

Stormy makes a lot of sense.

I would think if you have a "family friendly blog" that, yes, being sponsored by a sex toy site may upset the more prudish subscribers. I haven't seen your blog, personally, but something about blogs that talk about sex toys and also have pics of people's kids and family on them strike me as being unworkable. (Again, I have no idea if this is what your blog is about.)

I know many people who blog and few, if any of them make even enough to keep their blog on the net. Unless what they are doing is ground breaking and very unusual and riveting, I think making money this way (more than just the occasional influx of pocket money) is fairly difficult. You have to remember that there are nearly as many blogs out there as there are people on the net. Without lots of networking and a fresh and unusual approach that will bring people in, riveting subject matter, knowing your audience and doing what they want to see and read, plus being high on search engine cues, I think it's virtually impossible to make much money from blogging.

Good luck.

I just swung by and looked at your blog. It looks like you already made your decision to dump Eden. Sorry you felt you had to do that.

I really didn't want to have to separate the two, however I did realize something that one of my friends had said.
It made a lot of sense.

He said' Well if I want to go to see deals and print coupons, I want to see deals and coupons, not sex blogging stuff and romantic giveaways".

OK, so I get that. Its frustrating but I totally get that. Im the same way. If I follow a blogger BECAUSE they have coupons and deals, if they start writing about....gaming, Id be turned off and probably not visit at much.

So,I devised a plan to sort this mess out and make EVERYONE happy. INcluding me.

I have decided to make a whole new google account and do a totally different blog WITH my couponing blog.

Ill still keep up the deals and coupons, but I really have quite a bit of expertise and knowledge within the "sexual'sensual" realm and I really want to inform and educate others with all that i know. And of course, I really want to do giveaways and reviews for EF items that I own, since I own so many.

So, I will be doing both, just separating them. This way I can have my widgets and what not posted on that other blog too and gain a whole different "group" of folks that are there to actually read my stuff and not just like my blog and follow my blog to get free stuff. I hate that about my couponing blog. when I ask for input, no one is there to talk to me or input anything. They just wait for the free junk and don't comment or do anything. At least with my other blog, maybe JUST maybe Ill get some sort of feedback.

I was going to suggest that you simply keep up reviews and community participation here for points and such, but not post that on your blog. You could always post links to Eden with current deals on your blog, if you're an affiliate. Those will help you earn points/commission.

My first thought at reading this post was to keep your normal blog and start a brand new one for the adult themed stuff. That's what I would have done even though you'd have to start from scratch. I think it's the only way!

I honestly have 3 facebook accounts. One for family, one for blog/brands stuff, and one just for sexy stuff! I'd probably do the same thing with blogs if I had a blog.

Well, the best part of your decision is you can link them both!!!

I know more readers came my way when I started advertising EF. They enjoyed more of the funny masturbating stories that everyone has, but it seems only I share them!

All I have is a sex toy review blog, so affiliate links to Eden aren't a big deal. It sounds like you already did this, but separating them is wise.

True adriana, but most of my sponsors (my friends) won't go along with being sponsors for my site (so I would be promoting their items/businesses) because Im affiliated with EF. So they don't want any trace of an affiliation with a site that is with EF sadly .

Yeah, I cracked under pressure. I HATE being such a tool and going the route of others.....Its just so not me. I feel like I have to change who I am and what Im about to do this....but, if my friend is goin to be co-owner of this site with me, I can't make her look bad to future employers either. I guess its just one of those things that I have to sacrifice so that we can go into this "business' together. I really need the help with that site, and she is awesome. So....Ill just have two

See that is craziness lol. I can't believe some folks actually GAINED more readers. Then again, my blog is couponing/deals and giveaways....plus its advertised as a family friendly blog. So I can kinda see where a majority of my "crowd" may not appreciate the ocassional sex toy reference. I dunno, it just shocks me that my one friend would say "Well, Im looking for a different demographic than your followers...I want "mommies" more so".

All I could think to myself was "Does the fact that I enjoy sex with my husband and continually improving our relationship any less of a MOM!?" Blah lol

I dunno, I just found that last comment ^^ to be rather rude and insulting among other things. I find it kinda funny seems Most of us here are parents lol.

There are many "mommy bloggers" that do sex toy reviews. They are a niche group though. I'm a mom, but I don't mention my son other than in my About Me section. The world of me using sex toys or being a sub stays separate from my son in general, so why wouldn't it online?

I've gained more readers from Eden, but again I'm marketing only to people who are interested in sex toys.
