The Birdman of Devon: Have you heard of him?

Contributor: Ansley Ansley
Twenty-one thousand and six-hundred bird ornaments decorate Lawrence Cobbold's home. The collection is worth an estimated $53,000 and contains 15,000 ornaments, 4,800 thimbles, along with pictures and fridge magnets. He spends around four hours a day cleaning the collection and, not surprisingly, is single. You can read the full article, (though short), here.

Do any of you collect anything (besides sex toys!)? Do you know if your collection has value? Bonus points: Post pictures, pretty please!

I collect many things but lighters and Hot Wheels are probably the biggest. My Hot Wheels are mostly VW with Bajas and Bugs making up the majority. Unfortunately they are packed away so I can't post a pic. As far as value goes, I have a few in the $1000 range and one that might be worth more to the right person. It is a limited addition bug that the guy I worked for had made. Only 2000 were made in pink and I had my boss sign it. Last I checked it was selling for $500.

My lighters are mostly just ones that I like the look of or ones that are very unique. I do have a pic of these although some are still packed away.

Almost everything you see is a lighter of some kind, some are non-refillable, some are Zippo type and a few are Metal Matches kind of like a flint and stone used for camping/survival. Not much value other than the cost but I do have a commemorative Zippo from the opening of the Pittsburgh Pirate stadium.

Oh ya, I also collect tools. To many pictures to post. lol

Haha, I hear you on the tools. Hubby has too many to count, himself. Pretty cool that you like to collect lighters. I used to have a decent collection myself and a ton of matchbooks from different places I thought were unique.

Oh and bottles from plane rides. It's just a thing. There are little Absolute bottles on shelves. A couple of neat shot glasses and we have a huge collection of labels that stick on random things.

Matchbooks are way super cool! (Did I just date myself?) No seriously, I had a good friend back in high school that had five duffel bags full of matchbooks. She had been collecting them for about 20 years or so. I could just sit for hours looking at them, man the advertising those folks came up with. Sure has changed today, it is very rare when I see matches at the gas station much less a restaurant.

One of the great things about collecting is that there is no real "You must collect this!" item out there (OK sex toys excluded, eh?), if it makes you happy to collect balls of lint you pulled of your UR3 dildo, them by all means.

I collect old books, temporary tattoos, and coins though I'll have to get a pic later.
I don't think any of them have much value other than sentimental value, but I love em all. xD
