Biker Chicks and Helmet Hair...

Contributor: PropertyOfPotter PropertyOfPotter
What do you wear over your hair to prevent getting helmet hair? Last year I tried just using a wrap for the bottom portion of my pony tail, but the top still got all messed up from my helmet. With summer fast approaching, I'm trying to figure out a better option. Thoughts?

I found some head wraps that looked nice, but I'm not sure if they would work or not. What do you use?

You're a chick on a bike. You'll still be hot, don't worry about it.

I slick my hair back in a ponytail with mousse and then braid the ponytail pretty tight. That really helps!

Frankly. If I saw a women on bike, I wouldn't much care about what her hair looks like. I'd be to busy checking her out.

Thanks js250! I didn't try mousse, but I did braid my ponytail last year and the top of my hair was still really messy looking. The ponytail was fine, but the top was horrible! I'll have to try it out with some mousse and see if that helps at all.

And thank you talon4196 and Hentialover as well!

When I ride I braid my hair then wrap the top in a bandana. Helmet slides on and off without messing up the top so there aren't a million flyaway pieces. Mouse, unfortunately, always makes my hair look greasy so that was a no-go for me...

Thank you! That's what I was considering!

You can find bandanas in almost any color and pattern so you can match them to your outfit or bike

I have more than I really wear. My black one needs replacing because it has faded so much, and the white ones tend to yellow but colors seem to fade nice and gently.

I always wet my hair just a little, and add a little gel or hair spray. Then I do two braids, like low pig tail ones, and put a bandana on. If you untie the bandana, then pull it off your head, it doesn't screw your hair up as much. I'm sure there are other wraps etc you could use instead of a bandana.
