Being Taken For Granted.....

Contributor: js250 js250
We have all taken others close to us for granted on occasion, and also felt taken for granted by those who are close to us. Employers and employees, friends, lovers and partners as well as family members are many of the various life situations in which this tends to happen.

--Who do you tend to take for granted?
--What reminds you to appreciate them, and how do you show it?
--Who do you feel takes you for granted?
--What is the reason you feel this way, and how have they rectified/or not rectified the situation?

I don't know if I necessarily take anyone for granted but I definitely take things for granted.

I have never taken anyone for granted and I don't like it done to me. I had a couple of friends who have done this to me and it was hard for me to say no because I am not a no person. Finally I had to put my foot down it became to over bearing.

Loads of friends, most of my family, my husband, etc. have all taken me for granted. I have had moments where I've taken others for granted, but I try not to allow that to happen.

I have taken my husband and daughter for granted but once I realized what I was doing, I rectified the situations. I do feel taken for granted by a couple friends, they feel I am always available for their plans and never have any of my own. I have tried to talk to them about the situation, but it goes in one ear and out the other....I know my hubby takes me for granted--he has also told me he does, so at least he has acknowledged the fact. He assumes I will always be here for him and will continue to work on our issues. I have told him that I will work with him only while there is progress in the problems--not repeated slip ups. His ability to admit he needs help and being able to follow through is why we stay together, not because I will always be there for him...

I try not to take anyone for granted. However I have been over looked by many over the years. Work, home, school, all the same. I have a hard time trusting for fear of being used. I am the one to blame for it though because I allowed it in the first place.
