I don't hate Avon, I just don't use it.

Agree. Mostly, it's easier for me to buy from actual stores or head to the mall but my mom sells it (I think she still does) so there's always the option

My family used to buy from there, but I do not think that it's such a good idea. It is only sometimes successful, as it depends on the demographics of the area you live in.

Used it, didn't really like it. Although the little calendar lip balms were cute. AND, of course I used Skin So Soft to keep away mosquitoes - my mom still swears by SSS.

I've never tried it. Everyone here seems to sell Mary Kay

I used to love Avon, but I never heard back from my Rep again. I liked the stuff. I'd be interested in some Rare Gold (My mother's favorite perfume) for her.

I don't go out of my way to buy Avon, but I've used some of their products and like them. My mom likes Avon, so when I'm home, I use their eye make-up remover, and it's decent stuff. My mom also gave me one of her jars of the Avon Nutura night cream, and it's AMAZING; I just don't use it all that often.

Selling Avon is kind of a shot in the dark. It's commercialized as though you'll make all of this money but it takes some time,, like most businesses and careers to build up your reputation. If people in your home town know you sell Avon, sometimes they'll come running, but it takes effort to get your name out there.
I know this because my grandmother and my father's stepmother sold Avon. My father's stepmother actually used to give me bags and bags of samples when I went with my father to visit them in Florida. It's was nice. But she rarely made a whole lot of money off of it.
Avon is a very good company and their products are VERY good for the price. Their makeup is amazing.

The only product I use is also Skin So Soft for mosquitoes. Better and safer then most of the products available to combat mosquitoes.

I buy it at a local (non-chain) pharmacy.

I hadn't realized the OP was asking about being a rep but I agree with this. And being a rep may mean doing extra work to spread the word that you're there, to educate about products. Really, being a rep for any 'party selling' company like this requires a little creativity and hard work to succeed.

Honestly, I'm not sure. She said she's a new Rep and I was just reiterating what Sir had said. I know she did ask if Avon is good and I did answer that.

I used to sell it and it was a great part time income for me once I had a good client base that would consistently order (average $300-$600 bi-weekly profit). I didn't use the cosmetic products though (although I still do use skin so soft and their sunscreens and their kitchen items) so when I no longer need the p/t income, I quit. I now occasionally purchase from a girl that was in my downline.

I used to be an "Avon Lady" years ago as a third job to make some extra money. I haven't bought Avon in at least 10 years, but, I need to be honest. From the stuff I had to sell, and what I bought over the years, I see better quality in even discount store brands. I also never made any money, they were constantly trying to get me to bring my freinds into the business, they had repeated "meetings" that were a pain in the ass, and I didn't like it at all. I was in college and had a part time job and I didn't have time for a second "career" which is what they wanted us to think of it as. I just wanted to make a little more money. I didn't ever make a profit.
This is just my opinion. I don't know the methods of how Avon is sold anymore. When I sold it, you actually went door to door, which I doubt people do anymore.
But, the makeup, the nail polish and the jewelry was just not the kind of things that worked for my skin I guess. I never had any luck with it, it seemed to wear off quickly, the lip stick made my lips feel like sandpaper, and I didn't like the fragrances. Sorry, it isn't my thing. Also, I put Skin So Soft on and the mosquitoes send out a "Bite Alert" and I get bit more than I do when I have nothing on to prevent mosquitoes.
But, like I said, I haven't even looked at Avon in over 10 years, so maybe they've changed.

I used to use Avon religiously but then I started doing work that required photo shoots. Avon melts under hot lights... pretty much every single piece of makeup I applied melted away.
I had to go to a higher caliber of make up to deal with long term wear and hot lights.

I've never tried avon before so I don't know if it's good or not. I work at a spa so I pretty much just use what we sell there since I get it at a discount and it really has made my skin much better.
I think it would be really hard to sell for them. I know I really struggle to sell product at work so it makes up very little of my income.

The only product of theirs I use is Skin So Soft to keep the mosquitoes away. It works like no other for me- and it doesn't completely reek like bug spray.

I don't really like Avon as they never seem to have exactly what I'm looking for.

I use it sometimes. I get it from my sister who sells. I used to sell it and used to be a certified beauty advisor for them, but I got out of it b/c I was spending all my profits on more make-up and stuff, lol.
02/05/2011
I used to use it a lot more but my tastes have changed and I feel that Avon doesn't have the same quality anymore.

I used to be an Avon rep, and whether or not you make any money depends on a lot of factors. For me, it turned out to be a really dumb idea. The products are good, and I still use them from time to time, but I live in an area that seems to be really saturated with Avon reps. Since I was still relatively new to the area and didn't know a lot of people here yet, it was very difficult to build up a customer base. I had some friends from back home buy through the website listing me as their rep, but not enough for me to turn a profit.

I have no idea what Avon is.
