Were you around, crazily into computers and internet in the dawn on them? :D

My Master tells me these MINDBLOWING stories, being among the very first people who had computers, ventured into discovering the first version of internet, and the open hacking when it wasn't even illegal because privacy and protection didn't even really exist for such brand new things!

Were you among those who were the first to be into such things when they were born?

I was a kid when home computers were introduced - my dad was really into it and he wrote a lot of his own programs onto audio cassette tapes. I remember watching an episode of "Magnum PI" where a character was using a telephone modem (the handset was actually placed on a receiver box that allowed the phone to literally have a conversation with other computers).

I didn't notice the internet until about 1996 when I was watching the Sci-Fi Channel (back when it had decent programming and actually catered to geeks) and one of the info shows talked about the WWW - "World Wide Wait". I also recall coming across a book about a woman who explored the entire internet in 48 hours.

I didn't get into any of it until 1998, though - I was at the point of wanting to look things up quickly and not have to use a typewriter for my writing.

My dad used to tell me stories about when he was in college in the 60's and the first computer he saw. It took up a large room and I believe the room had to be a certain temperature.

I'm 25 and I don't remember a time in my life where we didn't have a computer.

I would have loved to have been around back then, as it is I didn't even have a computer until 9th grade (~2006).
I kinda wish I had been around to mess with mechanical computers, just the planning put into something like that is amazing.

When I was a kid, I subscribed to magazines that consisted almost entirely of computer programs that readers typed in themselves.

Not when computers were so big they took up a room, but we had a personal computer pretty much as soon as they were available. I've been on forums since they were called "blackboards" and on the internet since Prodigy days.

I also remember how much easier it used to be to hack stuff. Hell, I could do it!

Dial up and bulletin boards (BBS). You had to carry around a power supply for cell phones back then too. Damn I feel old now.

I wasn't born when computers were introduced, but I wished I was. But I was there for Dial-up internet and floppy disks. I remember being yelled at because I could clog the phone for hours... I really don't miss this haha.

Servers are still supposed to be kept a certain temp. They produce a lot of heat.

I had played games on the computer at a young age. I don't remember my first one. But I started with the internet when AOL came out.

Lmao, me too! I'm 27 and I've been using computers since I was 12, the internet was my best friend at 14 and my mom was always pissed because she'd try to call home and it would be busy *whistles*
