Are you watching your figure with a diet? (private poll).

It's almost spring and I am once again trying to get into fighting shape after putting on a little winter weight. I guess I'm less on a diet and more cutting calories and exercising more plan but I just read a post all about cake and it has me thinking about my plan (and cake!). Who's with me in the battle to get healthier and what plan are you using? How is it working for you? I figure we can all use a little support on the journey, right?

I hear ya on the cake!

Personally, I don't want to boast but I eat pretty healthy and I enjoy a treat from time to time. I permit myself one treat a week. Often times it is a chocolate bar, or something that can be shared such as pie or ice cream.

I have stopped working out but plan on getting back into it once I move in two months. My big issue is with portions. I eat A LOT, I eat healthy, always lots of veggies and limit my meat and pasta/rice/bread intake but I still eat big portions.

I'm not out of shape, I would consider myself shapely and sexy. I feel big some days and other days I feel really sexy. Depends what advertisments I see on TV, lol.

I think (especially in college) it's all about the snacking. And the portions.

My roommate and I have a plan to work out certain times during the day. I find that if its planned, I'm much more likely to do it. Even if I don't want to. I'm also trying to eat healthier and better snack choices.

Glad I'm not alone! I signed up for a 10k so that's been good motivation to keep working out. And I started logging what I eat online. If I don't work out, I'm allotted 1200 kcals but if I do work out, I get more kcals to eat based on how long I exercised. That is great motivation too because I like to eat

Since I moved in with my bf, it's easier to want to hang around the house with him or have oreos when he has them but that stage is coming to an end because I want to feel better about me and he is not a good excuse not to be healthy!

I'm using a food journal and going to the gym more. I'm also adding more lean protein and vegetables to my diet.

Honestly the best thing that works for me is eating the right portions and exercising at least 4 times a week. You don't have to starve yourself or completely stop eating sugar or carbs. but you have to be moderate in your portions. Good luck!

well I have started a beachbody product called shakeology. It is very healthy and good for you. You can add juice or fruit to make it a total meal there are good recipes for it. I keep falling off my diet and I want junk food sometimes I know really bad because of my ibs...I think I have went so long without proper nutrition my body craves things..in a few days I should notice reduced cravings with shakeology..and by the end of week 4 I should have more energy and improveved mental clarity..week 12 is when you should notice all benefits. Other than that I just eat skinless chicken plain, tilapia or cod fish plain, turkey hamburger, rice milk, cream of rice, fat free saltines, baked chips sometimes bananas, potatoes or pasta. When I get all the parts for my juicer I;m going to try juicing..

I've been trying to watch what I eat and I do yoga almost everyday. Many people say that yoga isn't a work out but if you find the right one it really is. Also, I try to eat all natural or organic foods. Limiting the amount of toxins you put in your body can really help the pounds come off. And of course eating lots of veggies is key. I try not to get to crazy about the amount of calories I eat because if I go over I feel guilty and then I tend to want to eat more.

Yeah, I saw you were on that Shakeology stuff. I just signed up for the Insanity workout and they are pushing that stuff but man is it pricey. Yeesh.

Try myfoodpyramid.gov for more info about diets and portions.

Not a full blown diet, but watching what I eat more than I used to. Cutting out sugar and sodium as much as I can. No more second helpings and eating out less. Picking up a treadmill this week so I can start walking again. It's difficult getting back into exercising after being pretty much bed ridden for a year. I don't think there's any way I can stick to a strict diet, I have almost no willpower.

I am on a low fat diet and I try to keep my carbs in a moderate range. No soda or non-natural sugars. I run three miles most days of the week and if I don't run them, I'll fast walk them. I'm also about to start the abs portion of P90x. Wish me luck, haha.

When I'm on a diet, it's Weight Watchers cause it allows/teaches me to prepare and eat healthy without just having the pre-packed meals already dished up.
Plus I have found it's the only one that truly works for me and I can be on it long term. Every other (and there have been a LOT) only lasted 3 months at the max.

I found a great site that's free and allows me to track and log my food and calories. link it was really easy to set up and easy for me to add what I've had to eat and how I'm doing for the day. I can also put together meals and save them for later, if it's sometime I eat all the time, like a salad or sandwich.

I don't really diet. I do make healthier choices now than I used to and I've been losing weight that way without "dieting" or exercises. More fruits and veggies, less bad carbs and soda. I am hoping to get into exercising more this year, though.
