My boyfriend signed the enlistment papers for the marines yesterday. I am being super supportive and stuff, but honestly military life style would definitely not have been my first choice. I am becoming more and more OK with his choice and the consequences (good and bad) that are going to come with it, but it is definitely a process. I just wondered how many other people on this site are in the same boat as I am. I will definitely be searching the internet for support sites very soon, but since I already love this community so much, I figured maybe I can find some here as well.
Are you the girlfriend/fiance/wife of a soon-to-be/active/reti red military personnel?

We are, historically, a military family but no one is on active duty at the moment. (Air Force and Navy.)
Support sites definitely help. It's always hard to transition, no matter the cause or the level of changes happening, and you'll need plenty of people to talk to. Good luck! And give him my thanks for supporting our country.

I don't actually know anyone in the military or the like, but if the boyfriend wanted to enlist I would support him. I would hate his choice because I would be worried endlessly about him, but if it's what he really wanted to do I would support him.
I know there are tons of support sites for military wives/girlfriends/fian ces out there so you'll definitely find the support out there that you need. I bet there are even groups set up in the town or city you live in.

My grandfather was in the Air Force and later became a trainer.

There is a ton of support here because there is a military base. However, it is an air force base and he is enlisting marines so I get a lot of "Oh he's enlisting in the MARINES." So that kinda sucks. But people are really supportive.

Neither of us is military, but we really appreciate and respect those who are and their families. We thank all who are, including you and your boyfriend since he just signed.

I know many people have answered yet, but I am kinda surprised that more people on here aren't married to military personnel. It seems to me that if your boyfriend/husband is being deployed, toys become even more necessary for a while.

My daughter's paternal uncle, Eric, is in the army. He served in Iraq for quite some time, but he's in the states now.
