I like both, I really only post a discussion if I am curious about something, wondering if something is safe, or trying to decide between a few toys. I like coming back and looking at everyone's answers.
I also like replying to discussions to offer my opinions
I'm into both, but I personally like to start conversations. It's interesting to get feedback from the community, even if it is about strange or silly topics. Overall, I'm a very inquisitive person, so...
I reply and participate in the polls most often. I have questions all the time and I say ohh, I have one to post. Then, I search the subject and most of the time someone has already posted it, so I read the posts and reply. Oh well.
I usually reply. Every now and then I'll come up with my own posts, but it's rare. Usually everything I'd want to talk about or ask has already been covered here.

By definition you end up replying more than posting. There are hundreds of interesting threads to comment on. People who start a lot of posts tend to be repetitive and too often redundant.
Some of the more recent 'posters' have done a poor job of posting coherent questions. They are often incomplete questions with inadequate response options (polls) and misspellings are rampant.
I would love to see the quality of discourse raised to a collegiate level at least!
