I love Stephen King, Patricia Cromwell and Sue Grafton--and am loyal to the authors. However, I am just as likely to choose unknown authors if the book sounds interesting. Who is author loyal? Which authors?

I enjoy all of Stephen King's work and snatch up his books when I can.
But I am like you... I will read other authors if they seem interesting. But I do find that if a new book/author sounds more interesting than a Stephen King, and I have to choose between them... I will usually choose the author I know I have enjoyed simply because... books are bloody expensive and I'd much rather settle in with a book I'll enjoy rather than be disappointed.

Not really. I like to mix things up.

Generally, no.. but I do love books by Sarah Addison Allen, Terry Prachett, and Stephen King.

Same here, definitely author loyal when it comes to Stephen King! I do however read lots of other authors' works if I think they sound interesting enough to keep me wanting to read them.

Not to a great extent. The TOPIC is more important, but if an author is well known on the subject, I will give great weight to picking that author whenever possible.

I tend to stick to a lot of Stephen King stuff.

with some things I vary...but I will read anything Laurell K Hamilton writes, forever! Even if they get even more ridiculous than they are now

I am very faithful with authors. If I find an author I love, I will read everything by them, then find a similar author. I'm this way with Richard Laymon and Bentley Little.

I mostly invest in the classics, so in a way yes, but i'm always trying to expand my collection and branch out. I have a small collection of Chuck Palahniuk books that i got as gifts back in high school, though i've never gone out of my way to buy any of his books. I am very invested in some of the irving welsh novels and plan on buying some more of his books as a few tie in together.

Nope, though I make sure to keep reading from my favorite authors

I may read my way through the books of an author if I read one I love....but I tend to float around and choose books that appeal to me.

I am only author loyal to W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear and their First North Americans series. I want the whole collection!

I'm not sure if I'm considered 'author loyal' or not. I have a TON of authors that I read, and adding new ones all the time, and I've read everything that most of them have written. Maybe I'm more of an 'author whore' who just comes back for more.
Authors I read:
Kevin Hearne - Iron Druid series is a MUST read.
John Ringo
David Weber
Terry Pratchett
David Drake
Elizabeth Moon
John Scalzi
Will Wheaton
etc
