Are You A Heavy Sleeper Or A Light Sleeper?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
I am a very light sleeper, if someone breathes in the same room, I know it! This is why I wear earplugs & have the white noise of an air purifier. I can still hear the noises, but they are less bothersome & I can ignore them enough that I don't fully awaken. I discovered ear plugs in college & combined with a face mask, I have never had such restful sleep before!

Are you a heavy sleeper, light sleeper, somewhere in between or does it vary every night?

I'm with you. I am a very light sleeper and leave the fan on to cover slight household noises (i.e. the pets or something like the refrigerator).

Generally a heavy sleeper, unless I was disturbed a lot while going to sleep. When I had a loud neighbor, it would drive me bonkers and wake me up continually.

I am somewhat of a light sleeper. It's usually the cats that wake me. I can sleep fine through thunderstorms. When I do wake up in the night I am up for a while.

half and half. My boyfriend had night terrors when he gets stressed out and the first time it happened I had a panic attack, now I barely even wake up from it. The body adapts to things surprisingly quickly, at this point I just yell at him to calm down and go to sleep that it was just a dream lol. But abnormal sounds I will wake up to.

I'm usually a pretty heavy sleeper and sleep through most things, if I'm tired. When I go to sleep and am not as tired, sometimes I wake up to noises, but I'm honestly more likely to wake up because I'm hot or cold.

Heavy sleeper, I have slept through alarms before. It's a blessing and a curse

It depends. I will wake up if I'm hungry, there is noise, or I'm too hot or cold. I'm not a particularly light sleeper, though.

Very heavy. My wife says a train can't wake me if it ran thru the bedroom.

I'm kind of strange about it.

I've slept through major storms, and I can sleep on planes, trains (etc). But the slightest unusual noise in our quiet house and I wake up. A couple of times, I've heard something, crept stealthily out to investigate (with a "stinger" flashlight in one hand and a short sword in the other!) only to realize it was just some precariously-placed item which had fallen off the counter. Oh, well.

I'm an incredibly heavy sleeper. I have to set multiple alarms to wake up on time.

I used to be a light sleeper, but it takes some real effort to wake me up nowadays.
