I don't mean bad/curse words (though if thats your reply, that's ok too). I just mean words that get under your skin, because you don't like the sound of them or the spelling etc. Maybe because you have some bad association with them?
Are there any words you just hate to see or hear?

I read the word "Guffaw" in a movie review the other day and remember that I just hate the sound and appearance of that word for some odd reason. There are just certain words I don't like and never use personally.

Not that I can think of - most of my peeves are people misusing/misspelling words.
I did have a creative writing classmate that absolutely hated the word "disgorge" and went on a rant when I used it (before knowing her peeve) in one chapter of the novel I was working on. Wow. That was insane.

I told someone recently that most women loathe the word "moist," and he argued that I was stereotyping.

Later in the week, over dinner, his mother and sister brought up the word "moist" and discussed how much they hated the word. They said it was just the grossest word in the English language.
He emailed me to apologize.
What is it about that word that women react so strongly to it?

There is a band I like called Disgorge. Other than that... its definitely not a word that comes up very often in my circle.

There was a thread about that one not that long ago. I think it was 50/50. Everyone either hated that word, or associated it with baking.

"Mhhhh" and "ahhh" Drive me nuts, but only when I know it's because the person isn't listening to me. or just doesn't care. My ex used both those words regularly, and it drove me completely up the wall. Since then, i can't help but get irritated when someone uses those words, even if it's just in response.

Yeah some words really bother me. I have wicked issues with sounds, that is think is closely related to misophonia. Like, the words supper, parlor and bureau.

Vajayjay is one that drives me nuts.

"Hubby." Really? You can't just say, "husband"? It's the same amount of syllables.
"Waggles." All I picture is Groucho Marx's eyebrows.
I know there are more, but I can't think of them*. It's more.. when I hear them, I know that they grate on me, but the rest of the time, I just block them from my mind. Those two are the worst, though.
*There's one I can think of, but it's a mispronunciation of a word. "Wah-lah," "waa-laa," "walla," etc. The word is, "voilà." Why can't people understand that?
