Are fireworks legal where you live?

I love 4th of July but more and more cities are making fireworks illegal.

How do you feel about fireworks in your town?

They are illegal in town but outside of town where I live it's a free for all. I hate it...mainly because these people have no common sense.

While I can certainly understand WHY some places decide to make them illegal (nobody ever cleans up their mess, fire hazard, etc), does anyone else see the irony in something used to celebrate/commemorate the birth of the country/freedom being increasingly against the law? I am not arguing against the laws, just saying the irony is funny to me.

I hate hate hate hate fireworks, more than I hate stupid people.

For seven weeks a year they go off all day every day for weeks and weeks. No stopping. The whole country sounds like a war zone. Then there is all the rubbish left behind that no one really cleans up and the boxes and all that make the whole country disgusting.

I hope one day they make them illegal except a few times a year.

Oh, and any special occasion; a wedding, birthday, birth of a child, building opening, starting construction, graduation... Ok. It seems like any day that ends in day there are fireworks. I hate the canon fireworks the most. It really do feel like we are being bombed. I cannot recall a day where I did not hear fireworks go off since I've been back from Mexico.

I grew up in Arizona and it was Illegal to even have possession of one let alone fire them off but people went across the border to new Mexico all the time and got them, police only really arrested you if you caught something on fire. I can understand with the dry climate tho. but living in Pennsylvania now and you can buy them at Wal-Mart is nut's to me kind of takes some of the fun out of it lol.

only in certain areas approved by the Fire Dept. but people don't care & use them wherever they want to.

Depends on the county. Mine doesn't allow them, but the area of it that I live, the sherrif's dept doesn't have the budget or the patience to deal with them.

They are legal to have, and to light as long as there are no burn bans in effect. There are rules on it though, I can't remember exactly but it's only on the 4th and until a certain hour of the morning of the 5th.

Every year here, where it is illegal too, we see at least one kid and one adult with a missing digit, eye or worse, from fireworks. Very sad. At least I wish they had some tighter safety controls on them.

I find it quite appropriate as we rebelled against the authority of the time (the British Empire) and now we rebel against the police. Nothing has really changed except that the police are employed by the system we decided on rather than the one thrust upon us.

They are not, which I think is a mixed bag. They were where I grew up, which was great for getting things for parties, but my neighbors would always make the streets impassable on fourth of july and new year's by setting theirs off in the road.

Yes. I feel if they weren't I would have to move some where where it was legal. The 4th is my favorite Holiday

Not a problem to laugh, that's how I deal with the fucked up location I chose to live in.

Earlier this year, Rep. Luis Arroyo (D-Chicago) 3rd District District, introduced a bill in the Illinois General Assembly that would make it illegal to possess, breed, buy or sell lions for their meat. Really? Is that his highest priority?

Many things that the politicians consider to be legislative priorities are quite laughable.

OMG, that is so bizarre I cannot even come up with a funny retort! Even if there were a case(s) of it happening to spur his outrage, why not think and make a bill barring the same for all exotic, non-game animals?
