So, I think most of us would agree that EF has a pretty good thing going here. They have a great selection, awesome search features, kick ass customer service. Then add on the features like the review program, not only offering or even encouraging customer reviews but rewarding them through free and buy out items and points for reviews, providing their templates to make reviews easier, rating the usefulness of the reviews and the value of the contributors, the points program, the forums. So what parts of the Eden website model do you think are the most useful and how would you apply them in other markets? What are some other things you buy online regularly that you would love to see a site designed like EF for and why?
I'm a dog groomer so I buy a lot of my grooming equipment online and a lot of the equipment I use is really pricey! It would be awesome to have a review program like Eden's for grooming tools. I'd love to read the reviews by others or be able to get free or heavily discounted items in exchange for reviewing them! Sometimes a new item comes out and I'm curious about whether it works or how it's best used and I'd love to either read reviews on it or be able to try it out without spending a small fortune on it.
I think the key to the success of Eden's review program is the incentive to write reviews because they are providing the items cheap or deeply discounted plus the 50 points awarded for each review. I think it makes contributors more inclined to actually review items, unlike other sites where the reviews are voluntary but not rewarded in any way.
