I was just curious how many artists are on EF. Random, but it would make a cool discussion.
Anyone on Eden an artist?

I took art classes and have made some of my own jewelry, but I've just dabbled. Mainly enjoyed scratchboard, acrylics, and ink. Very basic jewelry stuff (I couldn't progress to anything using heat, though I took a basic soldering class and enjoyed it)

I make handmade candles that look like food and drinks. I make bowls of ice cream with whip topping, chocolate syrup and a cherry. Even for the preggo ladies I will add 2 pickles in the bowl. Plus a lot of other candles like pancakes, dill pickles, boston cream pie and on and on. I wish I could add a pic to show you.

I'm not a typical painting artist, but I do use oil based paints - just different to what most people are familar with and on a very different canvas!
I also love drawing and have used normal lead pencils, white pencil on black card and charcoal.

I am a sculptor. I work alot in cast metal and large scale carpentry. Part of me really wants to plaster links and photos of my work from my website, galleries and press, but I'm hesitant to mix my my business life with anything personal. There's just no telling who my next buyer will be and the beliefs they may have. I guess you folks will just have to use your imaginations . . . sigh . . .

I paint with acrylics a lot. Though, I also use prismacolor markers. Which is also a medium you left out.

I'm a life-long artist. Not a professional, but I am a professional crafts-person. Right now I work making truffles, confections and chocolate as well as teaching others about these things.
I've dabbled in many different mediums over the years. I love getting hired to make random things like props, because I love mixing mediums and reclaiming materials in creative ways. Learning about & using sex toys has me wanting to learn about casting in silicone. (Bua ha ha!!) I'm a life-long singer.
I've got some major hesitations to pursuing the arts professionally, because I find that art is such a non-quantifiable thing. I never know when a particular inspiration is going to hit, and it's so personal that it freaks me out to think of trying to make a career out of it. I do love building and being creative though, and find that being a professional crafts person is where I fit in in the world economically. I do side-projects and random freelance gigs that are more on the artistic side.
I want to go to school to learn more about costume history and design.

Silvi, if you want to get into casting silicones and plastics for your own personal reasons you should check out Reynolds Advanced Materials. I always order from them. The process can be a bit expensive even when you order the cheapest chemical kits from shady companies. But the products always arrive quickly and are never past expiration date when I order from RAM. I've called the customer service line several times to describe an idea, and they've always been able to recommend the perfect product.

I love art, but not artistic enough myself to be an artist.

I didn't really know how to vote since I'm a nail artist. I do my own designs by hand and sell them. I don't paint like on canvas, only acrylic and real nails. They are super unique and funky designs though. Nothing I've ever seen done before. I guess you could sort of consider that art? I can't draw or paint on paper worth a crap though. I can draw stick people and that's about as far as it goes with me lol. I love making funky things though. I work on jewelry and make my own pieces, but I'm not a pro at that.

I consider myself an artist, but I tend to dabble and pick up something new every few months. I've done a little bit of painting (some acrylic, some watercolor) and I love to draw both in pencil, colored pencil, pen, with markers, etc. I've also made my own jewelry, I scrapbook, and I've done a bit of work in clay. I've been an artist since I came out of the womb, haha.
06/14/2011
Definitely. I use pretty much everything.

I've been venturing out into drawing lately to expand on my writing. I tend to do pencils, but I'm trying to learn how to do digital art as well.

I've used most of those mediums, plus others (my main one now is my camera... and yes, that is art. ) Saying that I've been making art for 17-20 years makes me feel old! Though thinking about it, that just means that I was an "artist" in elementary/high school.
