Anyone else getting invaded by stink bugs?

Contributor: Kindred Kindred
Here in the DC area, we have been invaded by stink bugs. link

Apparently they are from Asia and have no known predators here in the US. There are literally hundreds to thousands of them outside, with anywhere from 25-50 inside at any time. I tried vacuuming them up but 5 minutes later there were more. Anyone else dealing with these and have any suggestions on what to do?

A few years ago it was lady bugs, and now stink bugs. How many plagues were there in the Bible?

Got 'em here too! (In NJ) It's been in the newspapers and what not, and although they're not at all harmful, they are annoying and smell like death. My home or office hasn't yet been invaded by them, but they're everywhere outside here right now. BLECH.

When I was a kid, we used to call these "Potato Bugs." Probably because they look like little potatoes.

They're disgusting. In Chicago, we haven't seen anymore than usual, so far. I hope they stay on the East Coast (sorry.) I HATE bugs of any type.

I believe there were seven plagues that Moses brought down on the Egyptians in the Bible. I don't think any of them were Potato Bugs or Stink Bugs, though.

Thankfully, no.

Here's an article about dealing with them. Maybe you can find something useful? link

No stink bugs here, but last year my house was invaded by Cave Crickets. Horrifying.

the basement of the house I grew up in had cave crickets!!! and my mom didn't want to kill them because they weren't hurting anyone, but when she sold the house she had to have them exterminated. They're awful!!!!!!!!!

There are ten plagues, and a lot of them actually have to do with insects or other animals

I recently had bedbugs so I'd be more than happy to skip these little monsters. Yuuucckkk.

I'm over near Chicago and have no problems yet. I should ask my sister, she's out on the east coast right now.

Thanks Kristi. We've tried sealing, and resealing, but the buggers still get in. Fortunately they're harmless.

I had it on the Toronto Channel earlier and they were talking about them int he news brief at commercial. My building had a bed bug problem (THANK GOD they weren't in my apartment) not that long ago.I will assume this will be next.

I hope you find a way to get them under control Kindred.. like you said, at least they are harmless.

I will take stink bugs any day over bed bugs... I hear bed bugs are equally hard to get rid of, plus they're a health hazard.

No, I've never even seen one of those.

We get swarms of lady bugs though about this time of year. yuck..last year we had 30+ manage to get into the house. The kids thought it was great. Me, not so much.

Saw something about them on TV last nite. The place where I live, they are always spraying (too much) so I think they will be taken care of but I haven't seen them.
