I've only seen one similar but less detailed poll posted before, so I was wondering how many people here are regular whiskey/whisky drinkers? And, if you do, what categories do you usually drink? Multiple choices allowed. (I realize that I've simplified and combined certain categories.) Thanks!
Any whiskey/whisky drinkers here (bourbon, scotch, etc.)?

I chose other because I only drink a whisky when I am sick. I forget the name of the one someone introduced me too.

I don't drink whiskey regularly but on occasion I'll have a Jack and Coke.

I like whiskey/bourbon, I kinda always have. Several years ago at our local science center they had a mixology night and it was hosted by Canadian Mist. They taught us so much about whiskey and if you take a half of a shot put it in you mouth and slowly suck air through the whiskey you can actually taste the individual flavors. This is really cool and addds alot to your sipping experience. We also got really cool recipes and since I don't drink that often I was pretty buzzed. So try the sucking air it it really interesting.

I drink Irish whiskey frequently. I usually drink Jameson or Red Breast, but my boss usually offers me a glass of Midleton when he splurges on one of the cheaper bottles around the holidays because I have actually been to the distillery.

I like a few whiskys but I am picky . The one thing I like most as if lately is tequila shots with the lime and salt . Just one problem with tequila it makes me emotional and makes my clothes fall off. Ha ha wait most alcohol makes my clothes fall off.

I am familiar with whiskey since I'm a bartender. It's always good to know what you're selling.

I don't drink whiskey all the time, but when I do I prefer Jack Daniels or Fireball.

If you like Maker's Mark, I would recommend you try a Weller or a van Winkle. These are also wheated bourbons, but aged longer than MM.

Good tip! You won't see many whisky drinkers doing this but it's common among red wine drinkers who aerate the wine to soften tannins (partly why wine needs to "breathe").

Two other tricks I use: try physically chewing the liquor while it's still in your mouth--doing so will, interestingly, bring out more and different flavors; if you exhale through your nose after swallowing, with your mouth closed, you'll get some of the scents from the finish back into your nose.

I love Redbreast 12! I'm also saving up for a bottle of Midleton Very Rare, but it's very expensive.

I chose other because I like whiskey but I'm cheap. If I'm at a bar I'll go with my standby of Jack but at the store I often have to get the cheap or almost cheapest option. I do enjoy a good moderately priced Scottish whiskey on occasion though.
