Yeah, Congress sucks big time. I think it sucks too. I'm on medical leave from school and the damn government keeps harassing me about paying the loan right now. I am making payments on it, but it's hard when your medical bills are already insanely high...

There are a lot of public sector jobs that offer federal loan forgiveness, it's not just congressional staffers. I know there is a law that permits all federal agencies to offer loan forgiveness for employees who sign at least a 3 year contract. They do it to stop the high turnover rate, especially in congressional staff. I don't like having to my loans either, but I chose not to accept a government job.

If you think that's bad, they are trying to legalize it here in Maryland, that if you are in the States illegally, you can get a 100% free education (no loans). I am struggling to get through school because I can't afford to take any more loans out, and tuition is extremely expensive.

My friend who is here under such conditions is even saying that it's a screwed up system because tax payers will be paying for it, and not everyone goes to school for their own benefit.

A lot of women attended the medical school I went to, because as long as they were listed as "full time" in school they could keep getting government aid, if they dropped out they would have to get a job.

It's so sad that the system is screwed up the way it is.

Why is it when you have money you get free crap? Movie stars and what not get free cloths just so they can say " oh Angelina Jolie wore this" or what ever. And now this, ridiculous.

Honestly, are we really surprised? Congress votes on their own pay raises. Who in the hell is going to say no to a raise? Or free schooling? Or free vacations? Or. . . .

I've heard of these programs, but from what I understand, you only get forgiveness after a certain number years of consistently making loan payments. After that point, the remaining balance of loans are forgiven. If this is the case, it is not totally free.

Fox news isn't the best source of news, they do have the reputation to "skew" things in the very least. I'm quite blessed my parents are generous enough to pay for my school, so that takes a major burden off my shoulders when i graduate.

Assuming that the statement is true I am upset. I personally do not have student loans but I feel like they need to be equal to everyone.
