I remember working at a restaurant when I was in my teens and I got a 50.00 bill for a tip by two business colleagues. The most I have left on a very small check was 25.00. We spent about 5 something and the waitress went out of her way for us and I was feeling generous. She was so happy, she kept thanking me. What is the most that you have left on a small check?
Out at a restaurant, what is the highest tip that you have ever left?

I left a $100 tip when I was at a restaurant that had poker machines in it--I also won $800 on the machine while waiting for our meal!! My hubby won $450.

I believe it was $50 on a $7.50 check. The bill should have been over $75 but the kitchen just let this poor waitress down in every way it could. Having been in the customer service and restaurant business for MANY years Sigel and I knew that it wasn't her fault. The waitress approached the manager before we even had a chance to criticize the meal and we were charged for just the drinks. The manager was resistant to the suggestion of the waitress to comp the meal and she threatened to pay it out of her tips. So as she was leaving her shift Sigel handed her the $50 and loudly said he wanted to be sure no one tried to claim she needed to pay anything for that ticket...mouthy manager tried to claim he could attach her tips if we tipped her on our credit card. So we went to the bank and got cash.

I know I've tipped over 50% before, but I can't remember exactly what the most amount of money I've left before is.
While I was waitressing one day I got left a $75 tip on a $50 bill, though. My manager made me leave it in a sealed envelope, in case they came back complaining that they left too much money, but they never did so I got to keep. That was certainly a nice surprise
