How many of you have a physically demanding job vs a less demanding one like a desk job?

Contributor: ejrbrndps ejrbrndps
I work in a warehouse lifting heavy cases at a fast pace. I never sit down, even at other jobs I have had I stand all day sometimes 16 hours in a day. So my job is very demanding.

I teach therapeutic horseback riding, and it is a very physical job. I'm walking in sand during most lessons, and I also train horses, which is extremely physically intense. I'm also a ceramic artist, which is surprisingly physically demanding. It really wears me out, even a couple hours of it.

I work at a daycare center. I wouldn't describe it as being too physically demanding.

I would say mine is in the middle. It's more physically demanding than say working at a desk, but not nearly as demanding as manual labor or something like that. I'm pretty happy with the amount of activity I do at work.I wouldn't want to be sitting all day.

I do massage therapy part time and am doing physical therapy at a clinic for my rotation. I am standing most of the day, and have to demonstrate exercises and occasionally I have to do some lifting to help people to stand up and move weights and equipment around.

I really depends of the day for me...Sometimes it is crazy and I'm constantly moving and other times, not so much...

Mine is more mentally/emotionally demanding, though some days I am on my feet too much which causes pain, or more often, the people I deal with give me a migraine. Does that count?

I don't really know what to call my job, it's much more physically demanding than a desk job but I wouldn't call it hard labor, I work retail, lifting heavy boxes, always on my feet, not punching customers... it can get a little draining sometimes lol

Depends on my tasks for the day. Some days are very physical and others are not physical in any way.

How do you define physically demanding? I have to be on my feet all night, often running back and forth constantly when we're busy. I guess to me it's a physically demanding job.

Not physically demanding. I'm a small gal...I wouldn't be useful in that area.

I'm a waitress so it really depends on my shift, but when it's busy it can be pretty physically demanding. Carrying heavy trays of food/drinks/dishes, lifting the glass racks in and out of the dishwasher, helping carry bags of coffee beans/vegetables/linen s, etc. on top of constantly being on the move between tables and the kitchen. I'm definitely exhausted after a long, busy shift.

I wish my job was a little more physical. I hate sitting at a computer all day. My past job was very active, moving chairs and tables all day and I loved that it forced me to be active.

I sit and am on the computer for most of the day. If I'm actually working, it's all on the computer...that's why I can get fat so easily.
