Do you wish there was a "multiple post" warning in the forums

Contributor: Rod Ronald Rod Ronald
Okay, just today I was thinking of how some of the forum post topics are a little off the wall. I'm no saint here either, so don't get all pissy yet. My problem is, when I post something I genuinely don't realize that there are hundres more like it. I could search everything I would like to post to make sure of this, but most of the time I simply say to myself...
"I've been on EF for a long while now, and I never seen this question asked, let's post a poll or forum"
Only to get a comment back that it's been posted before.
I have done this as well, especialy on the white wine, red wine crap. So once again, no saint here, but it still drives me nuts because I feel like a damn idiot when it happens.
It almost becomes an issue that everything that can be said, has been said. But I wish there was a pop up warning, or an idicator that matches the keywords in the title of your post to ones that have already gone live on EF. This way you know it's been posted before and you can seee how many times it has been posted. So if you still decide to post it, it's on you.
I don't know, but it could be handy. Not only to save face from the back lash of other users on EF sick of seeing the same post a hundered times, but to cut down on the number of multiple post of the same subject.
Sorry for the rant, but what is your take on it?

I'm guilty. Sometimes I'll do a forum search if I think it is a fairly common topic, but not always.

I think it'd be great. People go a little apeshit when they've seen a similar post for some reason.

I think this would be awesome, but probably not the easiest to code. So I doubt it'll happen.

People usually only get up in arms if it's been posted really recently or if it's been asked a gazillion times.

I also think the search feature on the forums could be a bit better to prevent (perhaps) some of these "double posts." I'm sure there are people like you who do search first, but the search results tend to be a bit muddled. X.x I can never find the threads I'm looking for with it.

Yes. I always do a search before I post something. But often, I later find that someone's posted something similar with different wordings.
