I had a conflict not too long ago. Slobbish housemate. She... needs some form of therapy because her ways of dealing with conflict are not normal. She's catty on top of it. I'm not necessarily proud of it, but I was waiting for her to hit me (she was the agressor and was closing in). Sensing this, my other housemates removed her from me. They knew I was going to wait for her to hit me and then beat the crap out of her.

Immature? Yes, but it would have felt sooooooo good. Dealing with catty, rude (slobbish) people for months makes you day dream about it.

Hell, yes, you dream about it! But, it was probably best they intervened, *sigh*

I don't really have anyone in my life who is catty. If someone wants to go there, insists on it, I can swiftly finish them off, though, so I guess in that circumstance, defense, I am capable of being catty in response. But, I find the best thing to do is avoid them, they are toxic people & by removing yourself from their presence, you remove their ability to lash out at you! Although, I understand that is not always possible. And, with the example of a boss, you just have to swallow it sometimes, ugh!

Not really. I had coworkers who were, but they never got that way with me (because I'd go Celtic Bitch on their prissy asses).

I have to deal with catty people from time to time, but no one who is in my life on a regular basis is catty. If I can extricate myself from the situation and make sure that I never had to see them again, I will. Otherwise, I generally deal with it by being sweet as can be and giving them absolutely nothing to work with. If that doesn't suit the situation, then I try to make it clear that I will utterly decimate them if they continue upon their path, and that generally stops them in their tracks.
